Almost to a man, most of the rangers supporters I speak to think that Neil Lennon is bringing all this animosity (bullets, bombs, assaults etc) on himself through his own conduct.
When I ask them what, specifically, he has actually done to merit this, the response I've had on more than one occasion is 'that he's a *'.
Many of these people seem to be quite enjoying the events as they happen and even the ones who agree that the situation has gotten way out of hand will still have to add something along the lines of 'aye, but he doesn't help himself'.
So, what I want to know is do any of our members think he has brought it upon himself, and if not, what do you think non Celtic fans (not just the bluenoses) believe he has done to merit the abuse he has been getting.
Thanks for reading

I'm getting sick of hearing that "he deserves it", shows the mind capacity of most of that lot.
It's all being put down to the way the conducts himself, all that springs to mind for me is him reacting badly at Tynecastle last season but then what about Jeffries or McInnes getting sent off at different times in the season, even Craig Brown and John Boyle, should they be threatend or attacked for conducting themselves the way they have? -

Can't get my head around this one either.
When pressed on the matter, these cretins (and I include close friends in that) cannot produce any evidence of his wrongdoing. He is animated, outspoken and a staunch defender of our club but since when did that earn you nailbombs and assault?
What a world we live in. -
I think you'll find that in recent weeks there was a segment of posters on here buying into this fiction that Lennon was a 'thug', and even calling him a 'thug', an 'embarrasment to Celtic' etc etc.
I found it disgraceful at the time, and I wonder if these certain individuals still hold these opinions, especially as Lenny the Thug was caught on camera kicking a defenceless guy whilst he was lying on the ground:rolleyes: -

Christ that minority that think that are backward.
I teach a kid who is a mad Rangers fan and his Dad and him were lucky enough to be over at the NY Old Firm game.
As he said "of course we booed him, he's the Celtic manager who has ripped us apart so many times before. But do we hate him beyond the 90 minutes everytime he is against us, and in any way beyond the fact that he is plotting our downfall? No, because that ultra * some who say they support the Rangers is pathetic, and whatever Lennon does it's football and doesn't deserve that."
As I said, that was from a Rangers fan, so, ultras, move on, get of the dole and get a life -

It absolutely sickens me hearing Neil Lennon deserves this from people I know because they can't even back what they're saying up all they can say is he deserves it he annoys the rangers fans ffs he annoys the rangers fans so he deserves to die sick * we hate el hadj diouf do we send him bombs do we attack him ? No because we have the best support in the world and are not as shallow to do this stuff.Neil Lennon does NOT deserve this
-
fair enough rangers fans hate him and he hates them, fair doos booing him or if you are in stand trying to shout at him every manager will get that but when morons starts threatening him and his family that is too far, no one would "bring it on themselves" for them and their family to be treated like that. It truly sickens me the divide in this society that we live in probably the most backward country in the western world imo.

The Huns have always hated him, and always will. We all know why. However, there seems to be a large section of other non-huns who dislike him and the best I have seen is apathy from other teams fans. My conclusion is that he is seen as an annoying c*nt by other fans much like Neville, Bellamy and Savage were in England.
Remember when he was a player he pretended to waive a wallet at a Pars player, and he did do a few daft other things. As Celtic manager I actually like the fact he is a bit wild sometimes. Shows the passion our team sometimes missed. I think however no matter what we think, it is inflammatory to huns and other fans sometimes.
The huns will point to Martin O'Neil as an example of the difference. He was an Irish catholic however he never had much bother, also some scum huns have said they hated TB more than Lennon due to his support for the Church ( sad sectarian * ) yet he never received any death threats.
Someone on Talksport said he should "wear a suit" and that will sort out the issue!! Typical Englishman...!
One thing is certain though...he does not deserve this treatment and we support him 100%. -

Just ask them why McCourt & McGinn got bullets sent? They arent dicks. You never hear from these guys. Which proves that if your a catholic, from NI and support Celtic they automatically see you as being a *. Its down to pure bigotry and bigotry only.
-
Right so a paramedic goes into a housing estate, gets attacked of neds, abuse and worse thrown at him. He is trying to just do his job, but is just repeatedly knocked down. He tells the neds to * off.. the neds attack him..... Did the paramedic ask for it? Or was he just trying to do his job.

The only reason why people say he brings it on himself is because the are either unable or unwilling to look at themselves and admit he doesn't deserve this.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Anyone that truly thinks Lennon deserves this because of his fiery character is nothing but lowlife scum who do not have the moral compass within to distinguish that the attacks and threat are a lot more sinister than hatred caused by football. -
The media has a lot to answer for, they really went out of their way to demonise Lenny especially earlier in the season, I'm sure when he got his first ban there were calls for eight and ten game bans, as if he was some monster that committed the greatest crime in the history of football by shouting at a ref.
And how dare he stand up for himself and draw attention to problems in our game, when it came out that officials had lied to his face, he should have just taken it on the chin like a good wee boy, he's bringing the game into disrepute!
The Rangers fans were always going to hate him up to a point, we're not particularly fond of their team either, but the media fanned the flames bigstyle.
The whole bringing it on himself argument is bollocks, infact it's almost the same kind of attitude some dicks take when a woman gets attacked, she must have deserved it or brought it on herself by acting/dressing a certain way. Nobody invites attacks of any nature on themselves, it's twisting it to make the victim look like the guilty party.
As has been said already, they hate him but when pressed people can't actually tell you any of these terrible things that he's done to bring it on himself, it's just all he's a */thug/whatever with nothing to back it up. You know what half of them really want to say is he's a taig/*/tarrier.
We know why he's getting treated this way, they know why they're doing it, anyone with half a brain knows, the police and media just don't want to admit it openly that's there's still a real problem in Scotland. sweep sweep. -
Loads of people I know all say he brings it on himself!
He shoudnt't have shouted at the crowd, its the way he conducts himself, its his actions, its what he says.......
These are all why they think he deserves what he gets!
I think its a disgrace, no-one deserves that no matter what they do! -
I've had this conversation in work today with a bunch of huns. I conceded that he is an easy guy to dislike, he has ginger hair, he is passionate almost to boiling point and he defends his corner staunchly against all-comers.
My point to them was does this mean it is fair for him to be the target of physical violence to the point his life is in danger? Not one of them had a valid comeback to that other than 'he's a thug' or 'he's a wee *'. Which completely goes against the grain of ANY person that has been in his company in private. It is widely accepted he is a jovial, calm and very quiet person when he isn't working - which is what being Celtic manager is, his job.
To suggest he brings it on himself sweeps under the carpet the same sectarian issue which has crippled this backward little country for decades. -
-
its the BUT brigade. They say.
"No one deserves what hes getting.".........."But."....."He brings it on himself."
doesnt that statement mean that you believe he does deserve it then....make your mind up you deluded bunch of sectarian, bigoted skunkerfucks.
