1. De Vries is not a goalkeeper, Gordon back in.
2. Giving Gamboa his debut tonight was brave I would have done the same if I was picking the team but a mistake nonetheless. Smelling that he is not Celtic class but will not judge him on one performance, just my thoughts on him.
3. Brown needs support in the centre of midfield, we will have problems there all season with Bitton not stepping up and having no one to challange for that position.
Hope Brendan adresses most of this asap, we are already getting better but the way to getting where we want is long.

We're still pish at penalties and Astana was a fluke.

The only thing we learned in that we are a work in progress.. which we already knew, so we learned next to nothing other than some players now knowing the standard required.
Of all the times we've played them, a spanking like this was eventually going to happen. It's happened to better teams than us. -

Nothing we didn't already know really, which is.....
1. We'll struggle to compete in this group..
2. We need more quality..
This year was always gonna be a right off for us, deep down we must all have known that? -

Learned nothing. Already knew Barca were lightyears ahead of us.
-
One thing we learned, whether we like it or not, is that we're perhaps back too soon after the Deila era. Yes we have Brendan now but last year in the EL we failed to win a single game, the first time ever we failed to win a single match in any group stage we played in. We have been given a brutal group for our first season back after a period of major downsizing.
Hopefully the CL money we amassed coupled with Brendan hopefully still here next season will see him be able to build a more CL ready squad like Lenny had in 2012/13, who had the best CL group campaign we've ever had.
Oh, and if UEFA stop pairing us with Barca that would be lovely jubbly. -
What we learned from tonight is that sadly we are more suited for the Europa League.
In regards to the previous points made I've said before on this forum. DDV and Gamboa both felt like panic buys. DDV because we needed a keeper and it didn't look as of Vrom was moving from Tottenham and Gamboa because of Janko's horror show in Israel.i said before both deals were done that I believed both weren't of the required standard.
CM position next to Brown is a massive void. The board should have spent the money they had to fill this with a CL quality possibly "marquee" player. The numbskulls on here said "doesn't matter if we spend we won't get out the group" etc however there are two points A we wouldn't be getting embarrassed and spanked 7-0 (albeit by a world class team) but 7-0 in the champions league is humiliating. Secondly spending money on quality players might not stop us from finishing bottom but it means that we have a far stronger team to work with next season, making qualifying easier and making us more competitive in Europe, systemically building our squad adding "real, CL quality" players each season.
The board has continued to fail the club -
Bitton isnt good enough and never will be
-
Completely Agree on everything you just stated there but i thought KT had a rough night tonight too but thats my opinion and would have played with experience and put izzy in there. -
We are too good for Scotland but not good enough for Europe.

We learned very little, other than Barca are miles ahead of us. Realistically we knew we would be beat, the question was by how many.
The gulf in class is massive, and few teams will go there when Barca are in the mood and come away with anything. -
We as fans didn't learn much.. we knew it would need a superb performance and a lot of luck to come away with anything tonight.
What will the players learn? ahh , now that is the big question. When they all sit down and analyze this game then their mistakes will be highlighted.. something that they really need. Lets face it, the SPL will not provide such material for analysis and playing against the worlds best players has to teach them some lessons
Lets just hope that they take those lessons on board... -
We should have improved the squad to a greater extent than we did. No question.

They outclassed us, simply as. Move on to the next game. Absolutely nothing can be deducted from tonight other than we're absolutely miles behind Barcelona which we knew already.

How can you compete with the likes of Barca when all you have to practice on are the Huns and Co

Our away game against hapoel sent shock waves through me and I feared the worst tonight , sadly those fears were realised.. We need a lot of work defensively but we are a work in progress , we will improve and hopefully in time we will once again be competitive at this level.
