There would never have been a fall from grace, as nocunt wanted him as manager and barely any Tim's I know even like the guy.

Regardless of whether Keane's a Celtic man or not, attempting to take digs at Brendan, the players and the fans when the most he's ever achieved is as a number two to MON. I distinctly remember him celebrating like * for just qualifying too

Ex Celtic man, at the tail end of his career while he was practically crippled by injury. That's for the memories Roy :smiley-laughing002:

Being a Cork man is irrelevant and the fact is he turned down the managers job. I don't doubt that Keane has a slight soft spot for Celtic, but there are folk who would literally walk over broken glass to play at Celtic Park and the thought of ever leaving (or turning down the managers job) is completely alien to them.

None of this is meant as an attack on Keane, because to be honest I don't think he has ever pretended to be a die-hard Celtic fan, he just likes us a bit.

I want Roy Keane nowhere near the Celtic job.

Luckily he has had his chance.

I think Keane, knew he was not ready to Manage Celtic. Probably knows he is not a manager and will never develop to be one. Larsson was the same. Knew he wasnt ready, but I Believe that Larsson will eventually become a good manager.

Keane is paid handsomely to be polemic on TV, as it makes good tv.

Roy Keane is a Roy Keane fan, who walked out on his country. He at the very most has a soft spot for Celtic, but thats it.

    What did we learn?
We learnt that Barca, on their day, will, can and do hammer teams with bigger budgets than us too...

Anyway, back on to the Topic, what was learned from the barca game.

We need a world class keeper to stay in those sort of games. the keeper didn't cover himself in glory.

We need a fit and in form right back. it was a big ask to start against Barca with no game time.

We need a Defence midfielder that just loves to break up plays and moves and distribute.

we must always convert our chances.

Hope we can improve dramatically and secure 3rd in this group would be a huge success

Too many people went OTT after this game. Rodgers has had 1 transfer window, got a team so down in form and confidence into the CL. Top of the league and still in the wee cup. He needs time, so far, so good.
Gordon I think should start next game. With a better defence in-front of him he can do the job he is being asked to do. DDF for me is not up to the levels needed for Europe.

We are not as good as we think we are .
If we want to really compete in Europe we need some serious investment in the first team .

I think we are in agreement. the points i mentioned are all reasonable in the cold light of day, several days after the match.

i feel that around 3 of tbose goals came about by players throwing in the towel ,it was difficult to watch that happen ,and as good as barca are our team should never ever give up like that ,you see it happen with teams in scotland against us ,but i believe our players should have more heart and respect for the fans to allow the heads to go down ,you cant point the finger at a team who go down fighting.
