Are we playing as well as we should be this season?
In Lennon's first full season in charge I thought we were excellent, playing great possession football, dominating and controlling games. Even last season we did that to an extent but this season we just seem really flat and predictable. IMO we're missing creativity in the middle of the park and some of our better players from last year haven't been performing as they should.
The amount of points dropped in the league is proof that we aren't playing anywhere near what we're capable of. What needs to change to improve our performances?

Totally agree. We don't seem comfortable with just passing it about and probing for chances. I like being direct when we can and should, but there are times when we need to be more patient or we leave ourselves open to being caught out on the break, and that's happened time and time again this season.
Need at least one guy in who's going to comfortable on the ball, and encourage passing and possession football. -

We will probably improve a bit with Stokes returning. Him and Hooper have the best partnership up front which will see more of the chances we create finished.

I think at times we are trying to force the play to much and it becomes frustrating.
Hopefully with the return of Stokes we might see a bit more natural play, also I would like to see us bring in a creative attacking player of some kind. -
No.
Our home form in the SPL this season has been shocking.
Probably the worst I have seen since the dark days of the 90's. -

I think the only problem with the side is attitude, their skill is not in question. When we play the way we can (ICT away, ST.M away, M'well away) we blow other sides out the water

I want us to go back to the patient, passing style we had. We're definitely good enough to break sides down when we play that way, I just don't understand where Lennon has went tactics wise this season. -

I think we've missed Forrest big time.
Bit worrying though that we rely so heavily on a kid for our attacking impetus. We are slow and ponderous getting the ball forward and when we do create chances we can be incredibly wasteful. Ironically, in europe it's been the exact opposite where we dont create much but nail the chances we do get! :smiley-laughing002:Last edited by a moderator: Jan 2, 2013 -
We have a squad of a certain type of player.
They're quick, athletic, hard working players.
What we lack is guile, passing & goalscoring players. -

I wouldnt call Ledley a 'passer'..he's a work horse who's main objective is to play simple passes and keep the ball moving, not pick out a pass.

We lack creativity and guile, imo.
What we need first and foremost is a playmaker, but we could also do with some trickier players for Europe. In the SPL, you'll get away with using strength and pace to beat a full-back; not in the CL. -

World class creative players don't always cost a fortune if you know the right people...how much did Lubo cost again? Wasn't it something like £350,000 (maybe a million in today's market?)Last edited by a moderator: Jan 3, 2013
