Just seen this on sky sports news and couldn't see a thread about it.
Thoughts please?

Fair enough Brown is vocal on the pitch but am not sure he is a leader.
-
Im happy with that decision.. It now means that Brown has to step up and deliver a level of performances that makes him undroppable , or we'll be in a similar scenario to Mcmanus where the captain either gets played out of loyalty by the manager or gets dropped because he's not deemed good enough... Brown should be good enough to be our driving force and could have leadership qualities if he curbs his nasty/immature streak.. There's pressure on him to prove he's capable of being a Celtic captain..
-
Browns pish, loses every pass and just looks like hes going to get sent off all the time, not celtic class. i hope he leaves in the summer along with mowbary
-
Hopefully we sell our captain at the end of the season then.
-
Has to be better than the give-everyone-a-go shenanigins.
-
means he's definitely going to be starting most games now :38:
-
all the best to him hope he lifts a trophey this season -

Might be the thing that calms him down.
It's extra responsability, but I think we should be building a team around Brown for the future.
A lot of fans have been very critical of Brown on this forum, considering the guy was playing through an injury & pain earlier in the season, I can't question his commitment to the club.
Personally, although there is only one armband, there should be 3 captains on the pitch, Big Jos should be organising the back line, Brown the midfield, and Keane the strikers.
We need players to rise up, take responsability, and grab games by the scruff of the neck.
As Big Jos said recently, if we're struggling after 70 mins, I don't want to see heads going down, I want to see a positive response from the players, we are Celtic. -

I have to admit that I was one of Brown's worst critics, but even I think this is a good choice.
Brown is now fully fit with a clear head (we all know the tragedies which surrounded his family life) so this should hopefully be the icing on the cake for him and he can set about showing us all why he is the most expensive signing between two Scottish sides.
Come on Broony, inspire this team to first place!!! -
hopefully he's going to be playing on the right where he does well for scotland rather than displacing ki, crosas or n'guemo all of whom i rate higher in the middle

The guy has got what you Scots refer to as 'dig.' Anyone who thinks he's too much a hothead I better not catch waxing nostalgic over the days where Lenny had the armband.
And as far as him replacing N'Guemo in the starting lineup... after counting the number of passes Landry misplaced last game I think a switch could do both players well.
We have not seen a fit Brown this year. He has proven himself capable of being a player of the year. He's vocal and has got a determined fire visibly about him. While I don't doubt the efforts of a McGeady or a Hinkel, I think the way Brown approaches a game is more conducive to captaining. Its not quietly determined (Hinkel) or visibly frustrated (Aiden).
To me he was the logical choice from among guys who have been at the club longer than a few weeks. -
Well, I reckon this is a make-or-break decision for TM.
Personally I'm disappointed by it.
Brown has proved in the past he's incapable of taking charge of himself, never mind the Celtic team.
And perhaps the worst aspect of it, is that it's McManus all over again. We're installing a captain who should not really be an automatic starter - so it puts great pressure on the manager to play him. We've already seen how well N'Guemo plays when partnered with Crosas in centre-mid - and equally we've seen that he underperforms when partnered with Brown.
Does this mean we're going to see N'Guemo dropped to accommodate the Headless Chicken?
Well, look on the bright side - the responsibility of the captaincy could result in a character change for Brown - he may step up to the plate and prove that he has reserves of self-discipline which we had not suspected. -
Our captain can't pass or shoot.:54:
-
My thoughts are......what the * is going on!
-
its a joke, and the way he stole the captins armband against kilmarnock was shocking.
Taking it off the then captain while he was still plain :52: -
Very off topic but i wish we hadn't sold mcdonald i'm starting to feel gutted about that.

personally i would have preffered to have keane as captain even if its till the end of the season.keane is a natural leader.but brown is the best thing next to keane who could lead the team
