Just been listening to Real Radio, they were having a discussion (again) about the choice of songs away fans sing.
A caller came on and basically blamed the Green Brigade for their stance on singing The Soldier Song and Boys of the Old Brigade.
The guy seemed to know what he was talking about in terms of supporter group politics I have to say.
The general public and media cant/dont/wont distinguish between The Famine Song and Republican songs, So bearing this in mind do you think the Green Brigade are bringing us down to Rangers fans level, and playing into the medias hands at the same time ?

no we can't !!!!!!!! -
we dont i hear them every game.
so you are saying we can't sing Irelands national anthem any more but rangers and hearts etc can sing * save the queen. * OFF :47: -
You cannot blame to GB for the fans singing the reel songs. At the game yesterday, there was 2 dozen GB'ers if lucky and thousands of fans sang these two songs. The GB are a group who want to get a good atmosphere back and put on good displays. They are a left wing group, and do sing Soldier's Song, which I suppose it is alright as it is on the Jungle Bhoys songbook on their site (the JB are the official Celtic singing group). Whereas to BOTB, you can't pin the blame on two dzen lads calling themself the GB at an away game, at least half the fans in tht stand sang the song, these songs have been getting sung non-stop at away games for decades now, long before the GB were around...

being a SCOTTISH club i can live without it tbh, and just leave it in the bars in the gallowgate where the papers and tv dont pick it up to use against the SCOTTISH champions:31:

No matter what anyone says Boys of the Old brigade is not a sectarian song, it is just the same as flower of Scotland. Soldiers song is the national anthem of Ireland. So i don't really see what point you are trying to make here.
So please, don't talk *
Also, Celtic fans have sung Irish patriot songs since most of the GB were floating about in their dads ballbags, so its a poor arguement. -

Interesting point there, people who don't want their kids to hear theses songs cannot stop them from being heard. -
Are you the spokesman for what Celtic fans should and shouldn't sing ? -

Is boys of the old brigade classed as sectarian? In order for it to be sectarian it has to be religious or political for a start which it isnt.
However it is pro-IRA which is "wrong"
In the eyes of Britain its basically like singing about AL Quaeda -

We need some sort of handbook authorised by either celtic or the SFA with clear lines as to which songs we can sing, and which ones we can't
