The way the whole poppy thing has been talked about I was worried they would be a minutes silence and some people might shout stuff.
Good to see the celtic fans clapping in respect before the game, maybe send out a message to people about what this club is really about.
Bringing people together, forgetting the troubles between us all and leaving it in the past.

Hear Hear!
Glad to hear that mate and looks like the majority silenced the political minority who set out the hijack the day with their own warped agenda. -

eh yeah......?

You'll find the vast majority of season ticket holders are educated people that won't win to drag their club through the muck.

Good that the tims at Parkhead shew respect to the poppy. My point of view is don't see politics everywhere, just take time to pray for the Scots who died in WW1, especially the eight celtic players (i think they were 8, but not sure) who died in the trenches.
Lon live to the Celtic Football Club.
Cheers for our fans. -

I retracted the "*" statement but you conveninently ommit that fact and does it even occur to you that by your nonsenical protest you are offending a far greater majority of people? Probably not!
Yes British democracy gives you the right to peacuful protest but Celtic Park is owned by a PLC who have publicly stated their stance on the issue of Remembrance day, so your silly we protest would have been better carried out at Downing Street. Or did you not have the bus far? -
I didnt clap.

i most certainly didnt clap. i was disgusted

What gets me is that the very ones that are moaning about politics being brought in to Celtic Park are the very ones embracing it.
Definitely double standards. -
The ones that didn't clap.....that was your perogative as it is for every other individual to clap. You can't be decried for that.
A wee bit of understanding and this doesn't become the massive issue it has. We all have an opinion, the time you choose to voice it or take action over it and ultimately how strongly was the issue. I'm glad it didn't become the circus it had threatened to, you can bet your bottom dollar there were several hacks with articles penned in preparation of chastising Celtic and its fans. -
well done to everyone that applauded, but i must say im digusted with the "supporters" that walked out in protest after 10 minutes
-
I think it was a very naive act by Celtic FC. It has divided the support and by wearing it they have made sure it will become a big issue with the press.
A white poppy would have been a better option.
The whole thing has disgusted me. -
-
I've never worn a poppy and my parents never let me have one when I was younger even though the other kids in school did.
I am however extremely capable of biting my tongue when it comes down to the team I love and it not being dragged into the gutter AGAIN by people with a political agenda they place above the team they 'support'
The biggest shame about today was the fact the biggest talking point on this board and the thing that is on everyone's lips is poppies and walkouts, what an absolute farce. I'd rather talk about Hartley and McDonald and picking up the 3 points and stuff that actually matters at a football ground, maybe that's just me?
