Celtic’s friendly with AZ Alkmaar could go ahead next week, after the original fixture this Wednesday was postponed because of the lockdown on air travel in the UK. The Dutch club were due to take on Neil Lennon’s team as compensation to Celtic season ticket holders who missed out on the Scottish Cup home game promised in their books.
Celtic face Dundee United on Sunday in the Scottish Premier League and then are without a game until Motherwell visit Glasgow on Saturday May 1.
With that in mind, * Advocaat’s team could now travel to fulfil the fixture either next Tuesday or Wednesday. AZ have no fixture until May 2 when they play PSV Eindhoven in the final match of the season.
The disposed champions of the Eredivisie have already qualified for next season’s Europa League but are still keen to keep up their match fitness and are hopeful of flying to Glasgow next week.
AZ spokesman Daan Schippers said in the Daily Mail: "We are in talks with Celtic to play the game either on Tuesday or Wednesday next week. Obviously, that is dependent on whether Celtic agree to this.
"There was nothing that could be done to avoid postponing the game. Our flight was cancelled."

Does anyone know why we are playing friendly matches before the league has even finished?
This just gives Big * wankybollix a chance to put more of our players on the sidelines before the old firm derby??

Well i must apoligize for my coment on monday night i was told the match was going ahead. so sorry
maybe it was the best thing that the game got prosponed because of the united game on sunday gives us a little more time to preper for that match then have a kick about on tuesday/wedensday night -
Under SFA rules, all scottish cup games must have a 50-50 split of the gate money.
I think it might have been because we drew Hearts in the league cup, and they never gave us the free game. Bit stupid tho, it was on the * telly, they never even opened the top tier for it -
Hopefully they play the game on the Tuesday night because I'm going to the U19s final on the Wednesday.
Pointless pointless game really. -
Will there be a return game in Holland? Then I could watch the Hoops.
BTW: I hope you'll enjoy the Dutch Champion. But please don't expect too much of them. Last year it was an incredible team under Louis van Gaal, but this year it's a very inconstant team. The team had much troubles at the season start, but a week ago they showed what they can do, by beating the current Dutch number one: FC Twente.
Enjoy the game! And make a talk with travelling AZ supporters, most of them are nice, friendly people. -
Defiantely next week -

Friendly statement!
How about a further statement... or protest as some would call it next week! Lets go and see a group of lads interested in playing for this club, Celtic's under 19s will be playing against Rangers in the youth cup final I believe!
Why anyone would want to sit through a meaningless friendly, against a Dutch side who will come with their eye obviously on their domestic duties, featuring some players who have had more chances than a game of Monopoly!
How fitting would it be to see Hampden packed with Celtic fans watching the future, instead of what will inevitably be the unwanted past of this great club when the deadwood is cut in the summer! -
I agree , this is why I'm going to Hampden.
-
I cant believe they have rearranged this game for the same night as the U19 final.
-

I was pleased when we got the 'get out clause' and the match got called off. Cannot believe it has been re-arranged! I will feel obliged to go to it because it is a season ticket game but I do not think there will be many turning up to it.
What is the point of it? -
less than 10,000 I predict
