Is it not time for real discussion.
The number of empty seats on Saturday just show that on certain games/weather etc there are a number of factors where a bona fide ticket exchange set up is crucial.
All well and good the club announcing a sell out, but its very rarely the case. Yes ALL tickets have been sold, but there are thousands on the ST waiting list that Im sure would willingly snap up the odd ticket being made available each game.

It's strange, more people there is more match day income. Could also add a booking fee to cover the costs of running it and even make a profit.

We as a club live in the dark ages when it comes to this the amount of money we could make is scary improve the atmosphere it's win win

Someone asked for attendance figures as couple of year ago and there are games that 15,000 people weren’t turning up for.
That’s a problem. -

The solution is also really simple. Ticket resale system, you cannot list higher than general sale value for a game, and you can’t list more than a handful of games in a season.
If you don’t attend or you don’t list it a certain number of times you lose the ticket. It only amounts to hoarding it for big games.
Yes, some people can bypass that by giving it to their pals but at least there’s someone in the seat. Saturday for a “sold out” game was a joke. Regardless of weather.Sc03jcy likes this. -
I bet you there were plenty of people looking for a ticket. It's an absolute no brainer to me and it would be so easy to set up. Even an option to donate your ticket to local schools or charities for games you can't make it would be a nice thing to set up. It's daft to have fans unable to get a ticket when there are hundreds of empty seats.

We do need a ticket exchange though, I read years ago the man u deliberately keep tickets for fans to attend who are not ST holders as those people spend more in the club shop than fans who attend every week, this extra income and also income from food/drinks etc from people actually attending is an area where Celtic are missing out.Ryanm1984 and Westlondonscot like this. -
There was a bus crash on the east bound M8 between Erskine and Bishopton at 1pm on Saturday which caused a lot of delays. Could have contributed to the empty seats

Trying to think of any reason why we wouldn't want to do this...is it a case of liability and keeping track of who's in what seat?
Suppose if it's all done off a database it's easily dealt with but maybe it's not as straightforward as that. * knows, only thing I can think of why we don't do it. -
I don't think that would be an issue at Celtic or in Scotland in general. We don't have the rich tourist element that the EPL has. -

Its how we got our tickets for the Bayern game away.
I registered all my details, names dates of birth, address etc.
We were then allowed onto the database of Bayern tickets that had been put up for resale. Clicked on seats as normal. Had already input cc details.
If its linked to the main club ticket data base, then a control could be kept of how often etc existing ST holders are re selling.
It cant be that difficult at the moment to keep a track of how often current ST holders books are never scanned at the turnstiles currently.
I paid a premium of 15% from memory on top of the face value ticket which went somewhere.
But as others have said, for every one non attendee ST on a matchday, the extra spending revenue is lost.
To me its a win win, and stops the ticket touts from having one less market. -
Saturday was ridiculous. I looked at going but it was sold out for weeks online. There were thousands of empty seats but I don't want to have to ask around like, 'are you going, do you have two together', etc.
There's no reasons not to have an exchange and presumably the club could skim a fee off the top as others have suggested. As long the ticket exchange does not allow the selling ST holder to make a profit on tickets sold (i.e., they don't make back more than what they paid per ticket), then it's obviously a good thing for everybody.
Surely this has been suggested at shareholders' meetings, fan forums, and that kind of thing. What has been the club's response in the past?charlietully likes this. -
If you’re buying a season ticket and missing let’s say more than 40% of games, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to be deemed ineligible for renewal. That’s just hoarding. -
The longer we go without ticket exchange the more backwards we look
It's an absolute no brainer.
The talk is we are moving to digital tickets from next season, which in theory makes it even easier to exchange ticket but worryingly up until Monday the digital tickets for the semi were non transferable, given Sfa digital tickets have always been transferable for games at Hampden id guess that the block was initially put in place by Celtic.
Never known a club to continually try to inconvenience their own supporters, while also missing out on revenue to do it. It makes zero sense. -
Thats my thinking behind it for them.Ryanm1984 likes this. -

Someone suggested limiting the number of swaps per season. Could be an idea worth considering. -
