We could, but we won't.
Would like to be wrong though. I really would. -

Normally I'm reluctant to spend such money when a player is over a certain age but at 28 and the fee mentioned we could get 6/7 years outta him

In a heartbeat I'd take him, 100%.
28 years of age, prime of his career. 33 caps and probably first name on the team sheet for his country. Almost 100 career premier league appearances. He'd be worth at least 5 domestic goals a season.
Guarantee our defence wouldn't be bullied by 3rd rate lumps of centre forward either.
We wouldn't be buying him to be a baller, we'd be buying him to give us that bit of steel defensively we're missing. Especially defending set pieces.
I honestly think it would be a great move.Boruc17, Fully87, The_Bhoy and 1 other person like this. -
How much would he cost?

Celtic’s model of buying young diamonds and trying to sell them on for profit only works if we have the right balance of young players with potential and experienced, proven players. The young players need role models to look up to and follow the standards they set on and off the pitch.
Duffy could be the cornerstone of our defence for the next 5 seasons and help develop other defenders like Ajer, Welsh, Frimpong, Taylor etc.
We need more physicality and leadership in the team. He would bring both of those qualities in abundance.Dublin Celt likes this. -

Duffy would be a great signing. Can't see it though with what Brighton will want for him.

Would be a great signing, would’ve been able to handle a game like yesterday which Jullien has proven on more than one occasion he can’t. However I doubt it will happen, he’ll be off to a PL club. Seen people saying “bring him home”, if I’m not mistaken he’s never played for Celtic and as far as I can tell he isn’t or ever has been an avid supporter of Celtic.

Think he was definetely our top scorer in last campaign, how bad is that your centre half your top scorer.

Having googled his salary he’s on about 1.6 million a year so roughly 31k a week. He’ll be looking for another big contract as it would be his last big move. Not sure what we could offer himLast edited: Aug 10, 2020 -
Signed a new 5 year deal in 2018. -
He'd cost a * bomb and would be way over priced for what you'd get.

Thought this was a thread about Boyzones big Shane Lynch. Disappointed now. Although he’d probably fill in CB position more competently atm. :54:
