Is it just me or is Mcdonald digging a deeper hole for himself here.
UNDER-FIRE ref Dougie McDonald last night insisted he will NOT resign despite admitting he lied to Neil Lennon and an SFA superior.
McDonald broke cover to plead for understanding but denied his integrity as a ref is compromised.
The official decided to come to RecordSport to plead his case after Steven Craven, who'd been one of his assistants in the controversial Celtic match at Tannadice two weeks ago, gave his version of events to the Sunday Mail.
McDonald, however, stressed he had been trying to support Craven by agreeing to concoct a story explaining why a penalty given to Celtic had been overturned.
The whistler, who is adamant he can still officiate Old Firm games and carry on as a top-flight ref, said: "It was of no benefit to me to come up with our stor y and I don't know why I agreed to it.
"I was being supportive of Stevie. It was wrong and I knew as I was leaving Tannadice that I shouldn't have done it.
"I also realised that I would have to tell the truth about what happened because I would be quizzed by the media.
"I had nothing to gain by going with the story but I thought i t might help Stevie."
Also this seems to be a well prepared, check this detailed account of what happened.
"After the match we were in our dressing-room and Stevie pulled out the wire on his communicat ion device before removing my earpiece.
"Then he asked 'what are we going to say to the supervisor?' "I just said 'I don't f****** care what we say to him. Just say that you called out Dougie! Dougie! and that I came over to you.
"The supervisor (Jim McBurnie) came in, sat on the edge of the bath and asked what had happened.
These * are trying to cover it up again.:31::31:

still the attempts by the tabloid media to present mcdonald in such a sympathetic light speaks volumes of their sympathies
as i said in the other thread, celtic cant stop until they have mcdonald and dallas's heads on a platter.....metaphorically of course in case there's media lurkers looking for another "death threat" story....then again, most tabloid hacks probably dont know what a metaphor is -
-
Now we know why Mcdonald was silent for weeks, he spent his time making up another story.
Tommorrow it will be Hugh Dallas in his "fake made-up over the week since he last spouted his mouth aff, pish lies"
In saying that I hope they keeping digging a bigger hole for each other. Heard Dallas was taking legal action over yesterdays report, let him have his day in court I say. Then it would be there for all to see. -

Just hear Dundee docked 25 points for going into liquidation.
So you get punished for poor business practise but McDonald and Dallas keep their jobs for blatantly lying ?
Beggars belief, kuntz.
Celtic must pursue this case relentlessly. -
oviesly there is something going on higher up than just the refs because if that was anyother job in the world they would be sacked * joke

unbelievable - just say you called out Dougie ! Dougie !
this was McDonald trying to cover his tracks before he was found out.

"you came off the field and could not care less what you said"
santa clause coming down the chimney is a lie tell that to millions of kids ya *
i hope you ya * never ref a celtic match again

cringing watching that -
I do understand that he lied but let's be honest he is not the only lier in the game. Players lie every week by diving. This in my opinion is far worse. The ref actually got the decision correct.therefor not changing the outcome of the game.
I for one would hate to be a ref. They are like the bad guy in a pantomime. Everyone in the stadium wants to dislike them.
I honestly can't wait until this story disappears and we can get back to football. Let's just win every game by 3 or 4 goals. That way the refs will have no outcome on the result. -
How would him lying about what happend protect steven craven again this man has proved the * he is by not coming out and holding his hands up tio his mistake.Im afraid as though it looks like craven is going to be the one whos reputation is going to be destyroyed by this while them lying * dougie and dallas keep thier jobs and the media help sweep it under the carpet

Refs are meant to uphold the laws of the game, in many games including the dundee united game this hasn`t happened. I believe it was a penalty not only by the goalkeeper on hooper but also when kenneth obstructed hooper.
I also hope this doesn`t get swept under the carpet, as they have a chance here to improve the transparency in football. Sports such as rugby union and others have evolved but unfortunately football hasn`t. The more these incidents are highlighted the greater the pressure FIFA are under to change. -

It's quite obvious this is a well planned interview between the sfa and the media.cos if this happened in any other proffesion you would be warned to stay back from the media.* the sfa

At the start of Dougie McDonalds interview he says, the goalkeeper I thought with his legs had fouled the Celtic player, but instantly as I blew the whistle I thought the goalkeeper had played the ball with his hands.
Playing the ball with his hands as we all know the goalkeeper did, still doesnt allow the goalkeeper to foul the Celtic player with his legs, its still a penalty.
This guy McDonald is digging himself a hole he needs to resign or get fired along with Hugh Dallas.
Heres part of the Law 14.1.
"The penalty kick is a ceremony restart which is awarded when the defending team commits a penal foul within his own penalty area.
There is no requirement as to the severity or seriousness of the foul itself, the score of the game, the amount of time remaining in the period of play, the direction play was moving, the likelihood of a goal being scored, or any factor other than the commission of the foul itself inside the defenders penalty area".
You see sports fans and bias Rangers fans, McDonald himself in the interview said he saw the goalkeepers legs foul the Celtic player.
Its a penalty!Last edited by a moderator: Nov 1, 2010 -

this is just a small point but I think this clown should be brought to task on this
his interview was broadcast at a time when children are awake and may have heard him on tv saying the existence of Santa is a lie, here we are a matter of weeks away from this celebration and this guy decides to make this foolhardy statement in a perverse justification of his actions
i have three young children and as soon as i was made aware of this interview and its content i had to get instructions home to make sure the tv was off or on a satellite channel
i am not clutching at straws here to slag the guy, but our children look forward to Christmas and they dont need to hear a dissapointing statement from this ugly prune trying to save his own bahooky
shame on you Mr Honest Mistake, aye, yer conception -

The article doesn't name them, but appears what was already obvious about McDonald's position being untenable ts gaining support, as other SPL bosses expressing similiar concerns.
