    Re: Zurawski coming to Glasgow

They already faced each other in Cardiff, where Poland won WC qualifier 2:3. Bellamy was quick, moved a lot - but he also bit and kicked, fought mainly with his elbows and offended the referee. He missed some sitters and got furious. Zurawski scored a great goal in that match, after running a long way with two defenders literally on his back. (They will meet again in September in Warsaw.)

Hi. I'm Wisla fan from Poland. I tell you that you can,t buy any better player for this price! See the goal above! We'll miss him in Cracov but he's too good to play in Poland and we wish him all best. Hope in Celtic. He scored a lot in international matches. With Nothern Ireland from corner kick, an two beauties with England and Wales.

Any signing for Celtic or rangers is big news, especially Celtic as it doesn't happen very often. :celt_2:

    Re: Zurawski coming to Glasgow

I myself am a Wisla fan and I was really interested to see the reactions of the Celitc fans to this transfer. It is really depressing to see how much talent is wasted here in Poland. The league is not very strong - everybody knows that- but as everywhere, there are a couple of really good players who can make it in really good clubs.

Zurawski is the absolute prime example. Every year it is the same - teams and managers supposedly line up to buy him and then expectations run so high and nothing happens. We had managers from Lazio, Inter, Real Mallorca, Levante, FC Koeln and countless, countless others too. The truth is that Wisla was not very interested in selling him and wanted $5mm instead of $3.5 in the past, but he was definietly worth the money then and at this price right now - he is a bargain. And yet he will be the most expensive player ever (!!!) to be bought from a Polish club. There have been more expensive Polish players, but traded between foreign clubs, not directly from Poland. This shows how unexplored this market in Poland is.

He is the absolute superstar of the Polish league - one of the few players that gets respect from the fans of teams who just hate Wisla. He is the best paid player in the league too. He has a private contract with Nike. Of course Celctic will double or triple what he makes at Wisla, but remember that the expenses he will incurr will probably double up too. So I don't think money is the reason for his move. He simply has done it all in Poland - many Polish Championships, the Polish cup - now it is time for a new challenge. He is 28 and this is the last chance to really kickstart his international career.

We will miss him much here in Krakow, but we all knew that this moment would come sooner or later (even the management who wanted really to keep him till winter will not say no to Celtic - we all think that they would probably keep him if Austria Vienna and Trabzonsport were his only options). We will all follow really closely how Celtic and Maciek are doing. The only problem that Maciek had in the past was to quickly adopt to new circumstances. When he came to Wisla, when he started to play for the national team - he had to get quite a few matches before he started his show. But once he started he was virtually unstoppable. Probably the best Polish striker since Boniek in the yearly 80s. Fast and deadly. And his penalties - no one could take them like he did.
I think Celtic is a great place for Maciek - great club, great traditions. We all wanted him to go to a big club like this, and not to some shithole in Turkey.

As to your other prospect - Artur Boruc. He is a very talented keeper, so if you get him, that should be a great signing. We always had good goalkeepers in Poland and Boruc is no exception. The only reason he is not no. 1 in the national team is because we also have Jerzy Dudek of Liverpool in the team.

    Re: Zurawski coming to Glasgow

case in point, Miroslaw Szymkowiak, who was sold for change ( 800 K Euro) to the Turkish team Trabzonspor, and he is tearing the league up drawing interest from even Juventus and now his worth is probable over 3 Million Euro..... it will take a couple games, but Zurawski will settle in and be a legend in Scotland

I dunno about any other Celtic fan but these Polish lads are gettin me really excited!! lol... Like I keep saying though, us Celtic fans need to be patient to see a truly succesful Maciej Zurawski at Celtic Park.

All the best to you Polish fans, and thanks for giving us your thoughts on Zuraw.

    STALLED!

    From Sky Sports:

Maciej Zurawski's agent says that talks with Celtic have not gone as well as they had hoped.

Bhoys boss Gordon Strachan said that talks with the Polish striker were going slowly as he unveiled the signing of Mo Camara.

The Wisla Krakow front man was expected to seal his move to Parkhead as he travelled to Glasgow on Tuesday, but the deal seems to have stalled.

Turkish side Trabzonspor have previously been interested in Zurawski, and they could now increase their offer in a bid to hijack the move to Celtic.

Zurawski's British representative Raymond Sparkes says that talks with The Bhoys did not go as smoothly as they had expected.

"The talks haven't gone as well as we had hoped," said Sparkes.

"Celtic have still to reach an agreement with Wisla Krakow but we are hopeful it can all come together.

"Length of contract is one issue to be debated."

Zurawski was happy with his trip to Parkhead, and still hoped that a deal could be agreed upon. "Maybe something can happen tomorrow," said Zurawski. "It is a great club with a great stadium."

Just been reading that on Sky Sports...

Why is there an inability at CP to get players signed up on a contract??
