Just looking across all the messageboards I think the reaction is being kept fairly low-key until he actually signs, but I will be delighted to see him at Celtic. We just aren't used to players arriving so early. Happy days.

Polish striker opts for Celtic in £2m deal

MACIEJ ZURAWSKI last night agreed to join Celtic, with only the structure of payments in his £2m transfer from Wisla Krakow still to be resolved.
The 28-year-old Polish internationalist spent six days deliberating whether to move to Scotland after 10 hours of talks at Parkhead last week. He telephoned the Wisla club president, Janusz Basalaj, last night to inform him he wished to join Celtic rather than pursue a counter proposal from Turkish club Trabzonspor.
Discussions between Celtic and Wisla will resume this morning to iron out the number of instalments for the fee.
Gordon Strachan hopes to further increase his striking options this morning with the confirmation of a season-long deal for Jérémie Aliadière, the young Arsenal forward. Celtic also retain an interest in signing Craig Bellamy, either permanently or on loan, but a source denied suggestions that a significant meeting with Newcastle United had taken place yesterday.
Wisla were always keen for Zurawski to commit to Celtic, as they questioned whether Trabzonspor had the financial muscle to back their intentions.
"Maciej called me to say that he had made a decision and wanted to join Celtic," said Basalaj. "I was extremely happy to speak to him and I'm sure he will become a big star in Scotland.
"I don't know why it took him so long to come to a decision but I don't think people should read anything into it. On the field, he is very quick but he likes to take his time with important matters.
"This can be a very good move for Wisla and Polish football. Britain is the home of the game and, if Maciej is a success, then he can open the door for other Polish players to move to Scotland or England.
"Trabzonspor fought to the end for Maciej but I believe he has made the right decision on every level. It is an honour to sell such a talented player to such a famous club as Celtic."
Basalaj's flattering words are unlikely to be repeated when the detail of the transfer is hammered out. A possible move for Zurawski to Trabzonspor collapsed in January after the Turks wanted to pay in eight instalments.
"I am hopeful that a final agreement between the clubs will be reached quickly," said Basalaj. "It is up to Celtic. They know the price, it is about payments."

I think that makes it official...

Wisla sites have confirmed the news too.
On one hand - I am in tears, and I will - for long, I guess. I miss him...
On the other hand - thanks *, he's chosen Celtic.

    Need to learn some
like my fellow polish tims, i am very excited that zuraw came to his senses and finally decided on celtic. i'm confident that this move will work out very well for both the player as well as the club.

now, if aliadiere comes on loan along with the zuraw signing, what is celtic going to do with all the forwards? have there been any bbj rumours? also, i guess this probably means that bellamy is not coming back.

If all the rumours are correct we should find
out on Friday when the Nike stuff is launched,
    if Bellamy is staying.

FOOTBALL: ZURA: I'M GOING TO BE A CELT Jun 29 2005

STRIKE ace Maciej Zurawski appeared on TV in Poland last night and claimed he had opted to join Celtic.

He seemed to have followed the advice of Wisla Krakow president Janusz Basalaj who urged his star asset to choose Parkhead and not Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Basalaj said: 'I spoke with Maciej on Monday and he said, 'Boss, I'm still thinking'.

'My feeling is he still wants to go to Celtic.

'Trabzonspor have spoken with him but if it was my choice, I would sign for Celtic. The prospect of playing in Britain is an exciting one for

Zurawski. Wisla would gladly sell Maciej to a club such as Celtic.'

Parkhead chief executive Peter Lawwell is confident a deal will be struck.

Do me a favour mate, never read what Hugh Keevins writes...he does not have a clue!!! Zurawski is more or less a Celtic player, and like someone said earlier...only an earthquake can stop it!!! Good luck Zuraw, can't wait to see you in the green and white hoops.
