Zaluska had a good game. He dominated his box from crosses. He didn't come to catch every cross, he came to get a tocuh on it and divert it slightly from the players coming in at the back post, very important if you ask me. If he doesnt get those touches then big guys like Kenneth etc powering in at the back post have a great chance of scoring.
When he rushed out in the 1st half and the ball got cleared rolling across the front of the goal he done exactly the right thing there. If he didnt come out the United player picks up the ball, comes towards goal and either gets a way a shot or picks or the other United player who whould have been unmarked as Wilson would have to have closed down the guy with the ball, likely out come is a goal. But with Zaluska coming out the united player was at a tight angle and rushed, he hit a poor shot and Wilson was able to clear. The keeper had faith that his defence that would cover.
    Positive signs for me

He was indeed a solid keeper at Dundee, don't recall any howlers he had for them. Nothing major anyway.
Given a run I believe he can do the job this season. :shamrock:

That's nonsense, in my opinion. Zaluska will never be good enough to be number one at Celtic, he's not got the ability currently or the potential. We need a goal-keeper and very quickly.

Zaluska kept them out of the game yesterday, our defense was awful and if it wasn't for him they would have been right back in it.

I'm not the biggest fan of the guy at all and I do want us to get another keeper, but come on guys don't slate the guy for everything he's had a hard time as it is with all this talk in the media etc.

The criticism of Zaluska on here by some is way over the top hyperbole, considering we have won all three of our league games, and Zaluska has only conceded one goal which had nothing to do with Zaluska, and a lot more to do with the fact that Maj can only head a ball four yards, and usually to an opposing player.Zaluska was named MOTM by the sponsors yesterday and had three top drawer saves in the second half which kept us in it. Peter Houston of Dundee United said yesterday that the score would have been 2-2 but for Zaluska.

Keep Zaluska as No.1 goalkeeper and maybe bring in Craig Gordon for experienced competition and back up.

I think that he got all the support in the world yesterday, his name was sung throughout and he was given a bizarre MotM award. However the defense was at fault for the goal, granted, but other than that Zaluska did himself little favours. Flapped at several crosses, came rushing out for 1-1 with Russel that he was never winning, and a shocking goal kick in the 2nd half.

As a result of that goal kick, our defence then sat deeper for the following 10 minutes as they lost a little confidence in him and Utd looked very likely to get something. Only when we broke up field to get a 3rd could we relax a little.

So hes a nice guy and all that, but after 3 seasons without at title we cant afford to be sentimental and soft. Bottom line it, he isnt good enough.

He has had a run before under Mowbray and was in goal against Ross County and St Mirren along with other really bad results. Over a season he cant be trusted.

I wouldn't read too much into his MOTM, that was done to boost his confidence, nothing more. It certainly wasn't merited.

If we were to sign Craig Gordon, then it definitely wouldn't be as back up.

I agree with what your saying completely. When it comes to corners and crosses etc Zaluska is awful. He is too hesitant and I remember not too long ago when we played united at tannadice he was in the goal and the united players were told to attack Zaluska at the corners to make him lose confidence. They did that and they scored two goals from it. So it won't be long for teams to sus this out.

He's a cracking shot stopper but his ability all round is not good enough. That's why I did vote for us to get another keeper.

But at the moment he is all we have and we need to get right behind him because confidence is clearly a key issue for him

I got behind him yesterday as did the rest of the crowd and even the match sponsors.

Doesnt mask the problem though. The situation still needs discussed as he is gonna be a weak link if he gets a run of games.

Not every game will be as easy for us as yesterday.

He was * awful yesterday minus a few decent (not world class) saves. All the saves he made you would have been very disappointed if he had let them in (apart from maybe that header) but we cannot have a goalie that kicks the ground instead of the ball!! He came charging out a couple of times yesterday as well which he cocked up. His judgement is all wrong. He gave a couple of dodgey calls to Wilson to let things go that nearly went wrong yesterday. As for their manager saying it would have 2-2 without him, what a joke. If when he came charging out the first time and missed it they had good enough players to finish that it would have been worse.
We will get found out in Europe with him in goal and Maj centre back.

Zaluska is a * bomb scare, he made some good saves yesterday but made it difficult for himself by being caught off his line, a more able team would definitely have taken advantage of this!!!

Forster was more of a bombscare and was terrible with one on ones. This might be a stupid point put mostly every goal we let in last season forster never made a effort for it he just stood still and watched it go in.

    Zaluska for number 1?

at present time he IS our number 1.

But we can still buy a better keeper and improve the team....

same goes for any player in the team, if there is someone better out there, who we can afford, then we should buy.

I think its a question of how can we improve the team, rather than who do we need to replace in our starting 11

Agree with you, I have been saying for weeks that we need more players of quality in. Some of the arguments have been if we get players in we would need to split up Hooper and Stokes or Kayal and Ledley.

Now look whats happened. Izzy put long term, Kayal and Hooper injured.

A club can never have too much quality.
