Which is exactly what Scottish clubs would say about us.

Really? Which one of Ralston, Welsh, Johnson, McGregor, Forrest are you talking about? Or was it Montgomery, Murray, Henderson or Hazard you meant? Truth is that in Scottish terms were kinda heavy with our own development players in the 1st team squad. We actually verge on the opposite side, of ignoring/refusing to pay for our league counterparts players...

Not an expert, maybe that differs at underage levels, and you know more than I do, but I'd feel that asset-stripping the opponents is more of a Hun strategy than ours

It's not so much that the coaching at that level is poor (couldn't tell you how good or bad it is), it's that we don't offer youth a clear/better path way to the first team.

These young players are getting to 16/17 and seeing squads of players in front of them all getting to 19/20 and still not getting a look in to the first team.
Or seeing players like dembele chapping on the door for a couple of years now and was constantly shafted and ignored.

That poor example given to players, the lack of development and pathway to the first team is why they are all too happy to chance their arm in Germany or elsewhere

One look at Ryan Gauld and Aaron Hickey will tell these kids that they will actually get a better career education and opportunities abroad now.

We sign loads of players every year into the academy year from Premiership clubs. Those Premiership clubs sign loads of players from lower league clubs. Those lower league clubs sign loads of players from * clubs etc.

We’ve paid money to get kids and released them less than a year later. Football is a food chain. What people moan about clubs like City or Chelsea doing is done at every level just on a smaller scale.

The actual problem isn’t rich clubs wanting our players. Salzburg, Ajax, Benfica etc. still produce countless players with other clubs trying to or signing their academy players every year.

The idea that Celtic are somehow at more of a disadvantage than most is just excusing the sheer underperformance of our academy.

We should be looking to nurture the talent in the academy like ajax do. See tierney for example...if your selling at big profit then what better way than to get the players from the academy through into the 1st team no initial outlay except wages and sell for big fees.

Crazy that Ajax sell a player for huge money and immediately have some excellently scouted/or raised youth player available straight away as a replacement

Matthew Anderson coming inside and breaking their press and then playing the ball across for the goal.

What's the excitement around Brooks? He's still fairly young isn't he? 17 or similar?

Whatever presents Jude Bonnar received on Christmas Day were surpassed this week when he put pen to paper on his first professional contract with Celtic.

The 16-year-old left winger from Hamilton will officially start the next stage of his Celtic journey on January 1, 2022, and he was delighted to be at Paradise to sign for the Hoops, with the contract running until June 2024.

Jude originally joined the Celtic Youth Academy at the age of seven, having been spotted playing for Mill United Boys Club, and he was a pupil at Celtic's partner school, St Ninian's High School in Kirkintilloch.

Everyone at the Club congratulates Jude who has worked so hard to come through the ranks of the Celtic Youth Academy.

Celtic’s Head of Youth Academy, Chris McCart, said: “We are delighted for Jude that he has reached this moment. He is hugely deserving of this new contract and we wish him every success for the future.”

Probably close to Leeds best, fair effort as Antonio is a beast. Not bad for an 18 year old.
