0-0 at half time. Sounds like we've been on top and missed a few chances.

A wee indicator that Aitchison will be on the bench at Caley again, and maybe even Brendan going with Griff and Dembele for this..

Another loss in the league for the youngsters as they go down 1-0 thanks to a Motherwell penalty.

Lost 1 nil toba early second half penalty..

Looked like Craigan had Motherwell kicking lumps with the hill's feed. Celtic dangerous attack. Celtic freekick was pretty much the theme :56:

We can't win it every year ... is there not quite a lot of development squad out on loan though

Aitchison was with the Scotland u17s through today (not sure if he played in yesterday's game). Could be on bench Wednesday, but doubt it.

THERE was disappointment for Celtic’s Development Squad tonight as they lost 1-0 to Motherwell. The only goal of the game, which was played at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie, came 11 minutes into the second-half from the penalty spot.

And despite creating a number of chances throughout the match, particularly in the first-half, the Hoops were unable to convert any of them.

Eboue Kouassi was making another start for the young Hoops, and after just four minutes he was involved in a chance for Celtic, producing a defence-splitting pass to Anthony Ralston down the right flank. But no-one was able to convert his cross into the box.

Celtic came even closer to open the scoring after 20 minutes when Mikey Johnston’s shot smashed off the post. Motherwell’s first real chance came three minutes later, but Conor Hazard in the Celtic goal was alert to block the shot.

Tommy McIntyre’s side were dominating possession and creating the better chances, and both Theo Archibald and Regan Hendry came close just before the half-hour mark. Five minutes later, Fiacre Kelleher, who was the goal hero last week in the 1-0 win over Dundee, saw a header from a corner cleared off the line.

Calvin Miller was next to test the Motherwell goalkeeper but, again, the danger was averted and the scoreline remained 0-0 at half-time.

Celtic began the second-half the way they had finished the first, pushing forward in search of the opening goal and Hendry set up PJ Crossan inside the box, but the Hoops striker couldn’t direct his left-foot shot on target.

And just four minutes later, Celtic found themselves 1-0 down. Calvin Miller was penalised for a challenge inside the box on Tom Fry, and Ryan Bowman converted the spot-kick to give Motherwell the lead.

Josh Kerr, who came on as a substitute for Archibald, forced the Motherwell keeper into a good save with a powerful header, before Johnston and Conor McManus came close.

Inside the last five minutes, Crossan had a header cleared off the line, and Celtic finished the game the way they’d started, with Ralston racing down the wing and crossing into the box but, as before, there was no-one to get on the end of the cross.

And the full-time whistle signalled a 1-0 defeat and disappointment for the Hoops.

Oh no that's a disappointing result. Bit unlucky though. We've still got games in hand?

Mark McGhee must wish his team could play like that.
