I was having the same conversation with my daughter the other day Good Friend. It's been so quiet here too, it's scary.

I drove past a .........*......... what's the collective noun for a group of Peacocks ?!?....

Anyway..... I drove past a gang of peacocks today, two white females, three maybe four darker females, and one male. I couldn't stop as it was a country lane and there were cars being me, but I'll be going the same way tomorrow and will try to get a photo......see if I can coax the guy one into displaying his tail feathers which were in the non-fan position as I passed today.

I'll also try to brush up on peacock terminology before any follow-up posts lol.

    Addendum.......

The most common terms and collective nouns for peacocks (peafowl); are an Ostentation, a Pride and a Muster.

I'm going with "Ostentation" as they deserve that one. :50:

The lovely sound of a singing early Blackbird this morning in my garden from my bedroom window.

Also earlier this week I finally got around to getting half of wild flower beds ready for planting the seeds. Next week I will do the other half. My garden is virtually wild, I just prevent some plants from over powering others, and do part of the lawn leaving a healthy section for more wild flowers and long grass

Was walking around the countryside as I often do. There was 'travelling men' with dogs, i believe doing a thing called 'hare coarsing'. I am not stupid. They were just looking around is what they said. i.e Bullshit

I came back the same way and one of the poor dogs they were using had bad bleeding and fresh cuts on its face. It was good with humans. Came up and said "hello" in a dog to human way but it was obviously injured and it looked painful. But again.....I am not stupid. Said to the man....."was that a badger do you think?". He's all....."well yes it must have been a badger cause he's a mike tyson of a dog and i've never seen him being beat yet". Didnt really know what to do. Cause I am a man of my principles but there were 4 them and I can have a good old scrap but I didnt see the point in calling them out on it there and then and putting myself in a situation.

I hate cruelty to animals and dont know why other people can put up with putting animals in pain just to fuel their own enjoyment. I have told other people who are very good people who are also 'travelling men' and they said they'd be happy to take the same walk with me the next time and catch the said gentlemen and have a word with them. Then its out of my hands. Its the only way I could know to fix it. SSPCA arent going to be able to track these * down. But the people I know already seem to know who they are. So hope Im doing the right thing...............

No sign of my Peafowl yesterday, I actually parked up and had a wee wander around the area, but there was no sign of them......... There was a couple of homes set back from the road on either side, each had a number of buildings/sheds etc attached to the main house and must have been farmers places at one time, both had wild chickens wandering around. I reckon the peacocks live in or around one of those places and obviously I couldn't invade their private property, but I'll keep an eye out any time I'm passing that way.

A few from Saturday morn in Hazelwood, I finally found out where all the nuts and seeds were going, I stuffed a few peanuts into the ragged wood on the top of the stump to make them a bit more difficult to remove, after a while two big feckin bruisers came down and took the bait as easy as can be, the wee Coal and Great * weren't too shy either.

I love early Spring and it is beginning to come alive, i had my first singing chiffchaffs back on territory this morning on my local patch, also a female stonechat, displaying Raven and Buzzard, a female Sparrowhawk, plenty of singing blackbirds and song thrushes.

Do NOT tell my good friend, but i saw my first butterfly of the year this morning, a handsome Tortoiseshell :84:. A couple of meadow pipits passed through, probably on their way back to the moors.

Oh an blackcap has been singing in my garden in the mornings and on Monday morning a pair of stonechat were on my local patch. Yes i love Spring, my favourite parts of the year, especially early to mid Spring, you get the best of both worlds.

Great post Pete, it really is a beautiful time of the year, I can hear Hazelwood forest coming alive more every day, i heard my first Blackbird song of the year last week and the small birds (especially the Wrens and Robins) are really ramping up the noise levels.

@Qué sera sera I still think your original idea of "a * of Peacocks" was the best
