Your Wildlife Sightings!

Thanks John, the Rook feathers are a bit like the Starlings, they look black and dowdy on an overcast day but vibrant and colourful in the right light.

Last few from Sunday.

 

I have seen a few cool things in the last few days on my local patch including 4 Brambling passing through ( the handsome northern European version of Chaffinch of course) , the local hunting female Kestrel, a lovely wee flock of Bullfinch and great views of 8 Siskin landing briefly on some trees before moving on.

The odd local Chough also seen and as Autumn reaches it's peak i really hope to get a special migrant.

One of the great Autumn/Winter birds good friend is the Brambling. Sensational looking bird

 

On a fine local walk this afternoon on my 2nd local patch a was delighted to see a male Goshawk flying overhead mobbed by crows.
And this morning on my main local patch i observed a neat flock of 12 Common Crossbill flyby and the local female Kestrel.
Both walks with my partner in crime Ruby Roo of course and we beat the rain just in time this afternoon

A few from Sunday morning at Colgagh, I went out early to catch the best of the morning light but when i landed at the loch there was a thick fog which hung around for a long time, there was a few whoopers and a flock of Mute Swans there but it was pretty quiet apart from that, I saw a pair of Otters hunting there but as the fog was so dense it was near impossible to get a proper focus on them, i'm not sure if it was a pair or a parent and this years Kit.

Unique mushrooms I seen on a walk recently

corals that exhibit the same geometrical properties but live in contrasting environments.

 

I went out early on Saturday morning to catch the receding tide at Balisodare, i was there a while and it was kinda quiet, I noticed something gliding high up on the far side of the bay, i thought it was a buzzard at first but when i looked through the lens i recognised it as a White tailed Eagle as i had been lucky enough to have taken a few pics of one in the same location two years ago and there had been a few sightings recently, i was lining up for a shot when another came into the frame, i nearly fell out the hide when i realised there was a pair.
