Even if we manage to bring in 3 quality wingers, Yang still has a part to play. The guy that is just the level below the main players but still putting in good performances and getting goals/assists, providing rotation cover all while having a great attitude and improving/learning all the time.

That's where his issue is though, he has ambition to play week in week out so fancies going elsewhere. Think he should give it another season here though as his improvement has been steady and this time next year he could be pushing to be the main man if he carries on as he has done.

From what I’ve seen Yang has been playing really well in the friendlies, which is great, but on the other hand I’m old enough to remember Chris Killen hitting 5 in 5 against the likes of Spurs and Man City in friendlies.

For me if a reasonable offer comes in I would take it and move on, but if no offer comes in I'm happy enough for him to be a squad player while we bring in someone else. It's on him to make himself a key player, not us - he's had more opportunity than most. I'm not content to lose any points just in case wee Yang becomes good enough, as if we're skint or have no other options.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think people are misguided on what developing players at Celtic means. We shouldn't be bringing in players that are below Celtic quality and spending 2-3 seasons trying to get them to our standard. We aren't some middle-of-the-road outfit slowly building our way up the league. We're Champions - treble chasers every season trying to compete in the ultimate club competition.

We bring in players that can start in our team and we develop them elite standard.

I won't deny it works out sometimes to great effect but it's becoming a strategy we are far too comfortable with. It's a shortcut to losing trophies.

He also basically confirmed he fancies a move and was unsettled by not knowing where he stands. He is a first team player as there literally is no one else, Maeda, Yang and Forrest is it and Forrest can’t play 90 minutes.

Improved in a lot of ways going forwards. Man down when any defensive work required.

For me while he certainly had some really positive games and moments last season I still just don't see Yang becoming an important player for us. Yet because of the gross mishandling of this summer window selling Yang right now is not an option. That for me is a massive exhibit A on how much I am fed up with the current Celtic board and how they hold us back from even been competitive at a European level and do so deliberately.

Doesn't surprise me and from his perspective he should move so he can play regularly somewhere else. But the facts are by default more then anything else we cannot sell him at the moment because of the lack of wingers at the club and thats all on our board and their deliberate refusal to spend money on bringing in some real quality.

I said similar in another post, I think the signs were there second half of last season that things were a bit stale and actually given the time some of our better players have had at the club it was time for a bit of a rebuild. We actually had the right conditions to do it. A big surplus of cash and transfer profit from last year, we needed a clear out as 12 exits and counting showed and there was likely to be interest in our higher value players like Kuhn and Maeda.

We had even made a decent start recruiting Tierney well in advance and if we had been similarly prepared on another 3 or 4 first team we players we could have hit the ground running.

It’s ridiculous that we find ourselves having to hang on to someone who shouldn’t be a first team player and actively wants away because we have failed to properly prepare for selling players who essentially phoned in 6 months in advance on both occasions to say they were off next transfer window.

It’s hard to tell what’s actually going on with our recruitment but the squad is a mess.

We should maybe get the team selling our players on to incomings now that it’s only really Welsh that you could properly call deadwood and then possibly trying to find a move for a Trusty or Bernardo left on the outward side.

I would also be very surprised if we don’t face a test to hold on to Hatate and Maeda before the window closes.

Yang is a trier I'll give him that, he's definitely improved from when he first came but he is not a starter. BR is sending a message to the board that you need to invest in this team.
