Ciftci would spend more time in the stands through suspension than he would playing fitba.

IF he were to come here and be a decent aquisition, mark my words.......he would go on to become an absolute * cretin by the time a club in England showed interest - the type a * who wouldn't give an ounce of effort until he was sold.

    Pass.

If he signs and does well, then I'll be happy. But the money that's being quoted for someone who has not even impressed much in Scotland, is pathetic imo.

I'm not a scout, or a coach but remember how well Stokes done at Hibs? For the same price roughly as well (I think Sunderland paid).

Stokes is not my favourite player, don't get me wrong. I'd love Ciftci to come in and prove me wrong too.

I just think, hypothetically, if we were to offer a swap deal to D.U... They'd bite our hand off.

I just dont think stokes can cut it here anymore. I think his time is up here now.

Ciftci is one of these players who, if he signs, no one will expect anything big from him. Which, in turn can surprise us all.

I will throw all my Support behind him if he signs, but I don't hold out for much in terms of attitude.

Well, I'm unsure. I think no because Stokes has been a great player for us who guarantees goals and plenty of assists when fit. He's a creative player.

On the other hand, he's struggled in Europe (or hasn't been trusted to start) so it is tempting. There's no way to tell if Ciftci would be successful here. He has a decent games to goals ratio in the league for Dundee Utd and would probably improve that with better service at Celtic.

The fact that he's 23 is a bonus too, would start to move into his peak years if we signed him now (assuming he stayed for 2-4 years). Then he would still have a resale value.

Tempted to say yes, but still unsure.

Dundee United fans would honestly * your hand off for a player of Stokes quality domestically his record stands up, in Europe he hasn't been trusted with the big games

He would probably contribute the same amount of goals as Ciftci and plenty more assists over the course of a season as well

Realistically if we are looking at Ronny's plan of 22 players plus goalies then a lot of people need to leave especially to bring others in saying that I would sell stokes to Dutd but not by Cifti I don't see what he would add especially in Europe I think there are better options out there, Griffiths will take the league by storm this year and be top scorer so we need a European striker I'm afraid NC doesn't fit that bill.

i started the thread and i wasnt showing disrespect towards him.

neil lennon recently said every manager has a shelf life at a club, normally around 5 years. i think players fit that statment.

was alex ferguson showing paul ince disrespect selling him and replacing him with scholes??
im not saying its the same but showing that as an example. players move on its life.

i like stokes, maybe not as much as matthews but realise if hes not in the starting 11, and possibly not first choice back up and has some value on him then its time to trade. its asset management.

imo ronny does rate/like stokes therefore lets sell and move on.

and as an active republican i dont care if the players dont know the words off roll of honour as long as they can play football and try 100%.

a poll would be interesting because we are split on this. can someone put a poll up.

sorry didnt mean to double post. just lefted the phone and the post was sitting there ready to send. i thought it didnt send but it did.

i agree he is getting hard time. and people need to respect what he has done. and if we revert to playing two up top. id be all for keeping him, possibly even starting him. but on the wing off the three im not so sure.

id have put him in the centre off the three, but RD will always favour johansen and commons, and probley rightly so.
so if hes not going to play, sell him while he still has value on the contract

No thanks for me. Stokes is a much more creative player IMHO and whatever baggage he has pales beside Ciftci's baggage.
