Why the * would I swap Stokes for that fat psychopath Cifcti?

Stokes might not be a starter this year but I would have him in my squad every day of the week.

Been a good servant to the club. Disregarding him as per this thread is quite shameful. Especially when you would rather young Ciftic - he nearly killed our captain (Scott Broon) remember.

    Scumbag.

Stokes is one of the only players in the squad who understands the club. I wonder how many players knows what's happening when the Roll of Honour is sung??.?.

I reckon Stokes would have scored more goals than Cifti if he played for Dundee Utd.

Maybe but Ciftci has the confidence/arrogance to score goals in Europe for Celtic.

i started the thread and i wasnt showing disrespect towards him.

neil lennon recently said every manager has a shelf life at a club, normally around 5 years. i think players fit that statment.

was alex ferguson showing paul ince disrespect selling him and replacing him with scholes??
im not saying its the same but showing that as an example. players move on its life.

i like stokes, maybe not as much as matthews but realise if hes not in the starting 11, and possibly not first choice back up and has some value on him then its time to trade. its asset management.

imo ronny doesnt rate/like stokes therefore lets sell and move on.

and as an active republican i dont care if the players dont know the words off roll of honour as long as they can play football and try 100%.

a poll would be interesting because we are split on this. can someone put a poll up.

Stokes scores more and sets up more...

Ciftci isn't as good as what people on here say.

Can't be arsed looking out stats but I'm about 90% sure his are *.

    Not really.

14 league goals and 8 assists in 36 appearances. Not bad.

Against * teams.... One in 3 is not a great return.

Ciftci looks ok but he does not look better than Stokes. I can't even believe it's being debated.

If you were a Dundee United fan, I'm guessing you'd have a different opinion (if offered the choice)

    It's a different situation mate.

We all watch Stokes every time he plays and while his stats are by and large, very good domestically, we all know how frustrating he is. And quite frankly, how ordinary he is. He has a lot of talent and from time to time it shows, but he's far too inconsistent and that's why a lot of us aren't big fans of him.

Now, I'm not saying Ciftci is consistently good...but due to us all not seeing him week in week out, it's hard for us to see if he is as frustrating as Stokes. Plus he plays for a much weaker team, particularly after GMS and Armstrong left.

Aaaaand, sorry to bring it up again, but Stokes hasn't cut it at the European level yet. Ciftci might not either, but he has the attributes to perhaps do something at that level.

So you don't see him week in, week out, and his stats are *, but you'd swap Stokes for him?:smiley-laughing002:

I don't know you can say with any authority that Cifcti has the attributes to do it in Europe, he's not even really doing it in Scotland ffs. Add to that he has been pretty much anonymous against us and I will take a pass on him.

Remember Stokes was banging them in for shittier teams than DU when he was younger. Players tend to get more chances when playing for lesser teams because the opposition dont defend as deep as they do against us.

14 goals is not a return we should be looking at in a striker, not in Scotland anyway.

I've seen him enough to know he has ability that can and will get better with the right team and management, aye. And as I said, his stats aren't * at all.

And yes I have seen Stokes week in, week out and I don't rate him that much.

Well, for the formation we play i.e. a one striker formation, we need someone upfront with a bit of a presence. Ciftci has that. He's a big guy who can hold off players and bring others in to the game. Plus he has a bit of pace about him. Neither of which Stokes has in his locker.

Have you seen Scott McDonald's scoring record in Scotland before he signed for us? His highest return in the league was 15.

Yeah definitely. Think Ciftci has potential, 23 is still relatively young for a central striker when you assume most hit their prime at 28/29.

When we had our back to back games against Dundee United I remember been glad he was suspended there's no doubt he's a danger and difficult to play against.
