McGeady would be a decent addition. We all know what he can do. Are Celtic willing to pay what Everton think he is worth though?

Sign the lad up Ron. We'll all welcome him back. And he'll skin players alive once again.

If Ronny thinks he would add something to the team then yes we should have him back.

I'd take him back because he improves the squad, yes.

Agree completely. He might have been a bit indifferent down there but he has still got a few good seasons in him and coming back to Celtic could be the revitalising lift he needs.

what did he do scored 2 goals in two seasons with Everton, he was out of his depth in the EPL . he might cut it in the Spl, but wouldn't care less if he didn't come back, something tells me Everton will want VVD TOO.

Aye. I'd happily drive him up to Celtic Park to sign.

Im 100% against the move. granted, on his day, he was one of our best players and his ability was undeniable.

Now we live in a different world than we did then. We have new players now, a new manager and we are in the midst of a transition to a new era. Mcgeady left us for Russia, a very unambitious move and chased the money. Had he stayed and been patient iv no doubt he'd have got the move to the EPL.

At CSKA and Everton, his greed and failure to lay on the ball to other team mates has been highlighted and he seemed to be quite a divisive character also when he was with us.

With maybe not as much ability, GMS is for us now, what Mcgeady was, then.

He would have got his move to the Premiership that season, he went to Russia because they gave us the highest bid.

McGeady left to finance Lenny's team.

So on one thread Adam Matthews is a £15 million player, and one here we have people saying they don't want McGeady back. Mental.

He would instantly be our best attacking player.

I find that pretty hard to believe. He could have said no and held out/stayed put. Players can do that, just because a bid is accepted doesn't mean its done and dusted.

Secondly, I don't believe that was the sole purpose he left.

Every player has his price, whatever way you look at it. How long did it take for that money to be reinvested? I might be wrong but was this not around the same time we were promised these marquee signings? Maybe in part, but im not so sure we allocated all of, or even a majority of that sale to the transfer budget.

yes, if we had a 12 foot striker with a head the size of the goalmouth.

you must have a hard time getting by in life with so many opinions that conflict with your own. if you want my opinion on Matthews then please refer to my post and then talk to me.

how so mental? a player who has hardly played over the past one or two seasons? who, if bought now, would take up a significant chunk of our wage budget? a player who arguably , is not as good a player now, as when he left? who left us, for arguably, a smaller team who could give him more money? who plays in a position where we are not short of players?

With the impending departure of Virgil, id take a young, promising, good quality centre back as a replacement to partner Boyata, instead of Mcgeady, every day of the week. mental, I know.

I don't really care about your opinion on Matthews to be honest. Judging by your opinion on McGeady it's better just to pass on that.

43 appearances in 1 and a half seasons at Everton and 13 international matches since 2014...good enough. Wages wise, well I'll leave that down to the club. I'm sure they will only sign him if his wages fit in the structure currently in place. He might not be as good as he was...but he's still better than what we have. I couldn't care less who he left to go to. At the time, everyone I knew said that it was the right time for him to leave, so I wasn't really bothered who he went to.

We aren't exactly short of players in that position, but we only actually have two real wingers - GMS and Forrest - and one of them has had his fair share of injuries over the years.

I really like GMS but take the green tinted specs off, he isn't as good as McGeady right now.

And the last point, I would rather have a young, quality centre half if Virgil goes. But right now, Virgil is still here. And even if he does go...why can't we sign both?

He was sold to finance Lennon's side, as has been said. Spartak gave us the highest bid as has also been said.

What would you have done as a 24 year-old being offered £60-70k a week tax-free? Truthfully, now..?
