Playing in England means we represent the Premier league and it all it stands for.

    Pass the bucket. :38:

I am British. Some Irish users have Ireland flag as their avatar.

Edit: Just to point out that the Prem started in 1992.

He's obviously a Rangers fan. As long as they behave, they can stay on this board like everybody else.

I don't think we could just join the english prem league. we have always to keep in mind, that probably no English team, especially the weaker ones, really want us. we need them more than they need us.

We are competition for the smaller and weaker teams. considering our fanbase and tradition, it's safe to say with the same amount of money we could become way better than the likes of West Ham for example. If I remember correctly, the FA was discussing this matter once and most teams were against it. we take their spots away and no team wants to get relegated.

also it's a 2 way deal. the huns would come down south too. not only they are the most boring team to watch, also their rep of having racist and bigoted thugs as supporters won't really help the case.

Imo the only way this could work out, is if the FA decided to create something like a british league. afterall, the name Celtic could guarantee a lot of money too in the long run.

I am not a Rangers fan. Check my posts. I have been on this forum for two years.

Might be a bit of a strange comparison here but,

As much as I hate the ENGERLAND, i would not be slow in going there for work if it was bettering myself or my family, same for going to Australia, canada etc.......

So why wouldn't it be acceptable for Celtic to ply their trade elsewhere, if asked obviously, as to better themselves financially and commercially as well as a team?

*, it's pretty clear we are not wanted in Scotland, and that we are an 'embarrasment'!

P.S....................I just love what you've done with your avatar Towelie....so chic and modern!

Championship is to low, We have the financial and dominance structure to secure a spot in the EPL but it would take years to get challenging the league. The moneys there and we have the history to show it.

:56:Wow, you can't get more pedantic than that. Fine then, the 'First Division' is where they started. I honestly can't believe you would put a union jack on your avatar.

What right does any team have to go straight into the premiership?

Start in conference work upwards its only fair if celtic were to join the english leagues

    :50::50::50:

    My sentiments exactly fella!

I would honestly prefer it if we started from the bottom and worked our way up....would give us a chance to EARN our place in the higher leagues...

plus it would give us a chance to clear all the massive earners from our club and start to fully utilise our youth development programme.

its the only way we would get in as there would be uproar from top to bottom if we just stepped in at the top

Plus think of the financial gain for the conference teams / league 2 teams..... if they had any say in celtic joining their leagues they would be tripping over each other to say yes.....

Not only Money but im sure teams in the conference/league 2 would also start to gather more homegrown supporters to their clubs which they can only build upon.

Just as a matter of interest why is it important to you that Rangers come with us.

For my part on balance I would prefer to leave them to win the SPL every year, but I certainly wouldn't stay just because Rangers weren't coming.

As much as I DESPISE them....no-one is going to offer us a position within their National leagues without the scum....due to the Old Firm fixtures.

TBH, i would kinda miss playing the * as well....gives me something to go ballistic at...

We are the ying to their yang!

Well we cant really leave them, who says that we would be allowed to join and not rangers? After all, they are the champions, imagine the uproar if they got put into the EPL ad we got left here.

We will never play in England, it just wont happen. Why? they don't need us, the english league generates enough money without us, I think that was made clear last year when they voted 25 to 2? not sure on the exact numbers there. The problem is that we can't service big name players off the backs of the likes of ICT and Hamilton who we play potentially 4 times a year. Could we compete after establishing ourselves in england? Yes without a doubt, we are a massive club and would fill the stadium week in week out and attract big names. A more realistic idea in my opinion (and I could be wrong), but would be to create a north eastern european league (more feasible than playing in england IMO)
Take the top teams in the likes of the Belgian, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, and Irish Leagues, play a summer season (mid Feb to beginning of Dec) It would be better for TV broadcasting and attendance
an example of some teams would be
    Celtic
    Rangers
    Ajax
    PSV
    Feyernoord
    AZ
    Fc Twente
    Club Bruge
    Anderlecht
    Copenhagen
    Brondby
    Rosenborg
    Bohs
    Shamrock rovers
(bohs and rovers could possibly share new Aviva, and wouldnt hurt the irish economy)
all of those leagues are similar to scotland, a couple big clubs in a dinky league

Just an idea, stupid as you might think it is I just thought I would share my oppinion

:56:Your mental list is not more plausible than Celtic joining the English league. Not a bad idea though. Just won't happen.

Celtic is way too big for the SPL. They belong in either the Premier league or an atlantic league. I hope they leave the SPL asap because the club is too big to play against st mirren and things like that. This is a legendary team that should be in the champions league all the time.

I like the idea of an international league but I see that as less plausible.Maybe Scotland Holland & Belgium would form a good league together. I just hope Celtic board tries to get celtic to a better league ASAP.

I wouldnt be surprised for leagues to start joining up, as the stronger english, spanish, german etc leagues get, the worse leagues like the SPL become, and maybe a Scotish, Dutch, Belgian league would be more appropriate, but we will never play in England that has been made quite clear
