Ile try the link bellow is a good place to start say,s a lot

10 million customers now choose Sky

on the page look at this it tells you more

    Net profit margin q3 sept 2010 11.93% 2010 14.85%

Why do you think News corp is doing everything possible to purchase the 61% of shares not owned by him ile tell you why his current business is built primarily around the printed media a sector which is currently struggling with the adjustment to web and the affect it is having on the traditional media houses, all of the major conglomerates news corp being amongst the largest are struggling to define the future of and profitability of the sector with this in mind Rupert has got to get his hands on a steady flow of large sums of cash to subsidies his print media while he refocuses those business for the era of new media platforms

Sky and the Epl mean far to much to him and his wider business for it to fail if anything he is well aware of the fact that football is the hook with which he has managed to draw in a large proportion of the 10,million plus subscribers i pay sky close to £80 pm for my broadband/ tv /phone line xcl calls and the footy im shore a lot you reading this pay some thing similar

Even the share price fall is more to do with Murdoch being refused permission to buy out the other share holders

What does a link from Sky's corporate site about the extent of their membership have to do with the fact their share price has took a hit? :97:

No, why the * should we?

    Premiership or it doesn't happen.

If the EPL ever hits a lull in european performances, attendances etc, that will be our chance to move down south.

The facts are at the moment their league doesn't need us as they are massively successful.

The reference to membership is there to demonstrate the overall strength of Sky In the light of the share price as you put it taking a hit

LOL mate, not having a go like, but if you want to find out about the state of a company's finances, their own corporate website is the last place you'll find the truth.

    * me, are folk really shelling out that much?

I pay £15 a month for 20Mbps broadband, £14 a month for the phone including calls, and £0 a month for TV. I wouldn't give Murdoch a penny of my money, even if he was offering it to me at half price - so paying almost three times the price has very limited appeal. :56:

That's true, but the subscriber numbers don't tell you how financially sound the company is.

Put it this way, on my company's website, any stats I show will be carefully chosen to present a rosy picture. If my operation is running at a loss, and I'm having to market at £10 below cost to build a client base, I'm going to put "From Strength To Strength - Subcriber base hits 20,000" - I won't mention the fact that this currently translates to a 200K a month loss.

Now I'm not saying SKY are in financial trouble, I'm saying that if that if they were, the figures that revealed it would sure as * not be published on their own website. :50:

I do not think the Scottish league can become any bigger than it is to be honest - most folk will not be aware that it has the highest percentage of attending spectators per head of population in Europe, so no big growth there potential I would imagine !

I support Celtic joining english football 100%, we could be one of the best teams in the world again, winning international titles, and wouldn't it be great to see teams like Man U, Chelsea, Spurs (when we get promoted) etc come to Celtic park instead of * wee teams.

Always said I was against it. Celtic are a Scottish team and therefore should be playing in the SPL. based on the fact how corrupt the whole SFA is with their racist and bigoted agendas against us, I wish we would * off and join ANY league.

We are also a British team. Plus, Celtic are more than just a Scottish team they have an international appeal, and the EPL likes to brand itself as the World series of football. As much as we want the SPL will never be a better league, so england it is for me.

theres a big chance next season there'll be two welsh teams in the EPL, two welsh teams that in no way or form are bigger clubs than rangers or celtic. The welsh arent too keen on the english either and yet they understood the financial aspect of the matter. People always talk about this move not benefitting the english league but I disagree, it'll make it more exciting to have two more strong teams, and with the money and tv rights, theres no doubt the two big scottish teams would become as big as spurs, villa, city, and why not? eventually bigger than them and get into the top four.

Perhaps the biggest practical problem is rangers infamous reputation in england, particularly what they did to manchester was an absolute disgrace and didnt exactly endear to any english defenders of this proposal, but I think eventually this move will happen because economically makes sense for both parties, and money is what rules the football world, like it or not

The welsh teams have worked hard over many years to get close to competing in the Preimership. The old firm will never join the English set-up. IT IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.
