In my humble opinion, the Scottish league is just going to continue going backwards, Football has become a global entertainment, with boys from Inverness, Perth or wherever caring more about the fortunes of AC Milan or Man U than about their local teams, this will just get worse and worse and the Scottish league will become poorer and poorer. Celtic need to attach themselves to a better league or we risk being stuck in a football backwater.

European Football.........staying in Scotland will mean European football, but maybe 2 or 4 games a season, as we will not be able to attract the quality to compete in these competitions. I would much rather see a Celtic team playing in a competitive league like the championship than slowly rotting in the SPL.

Like I said this is juts my opinion, I hope I am wrong and we can get back to some glory days of Scottish football and for Celtic, but I just can't see it!

We'd shut ourselves out of European football for YEARS, you're absolutely right. I think many many forget this. I disagree it would be the death of Celtic but no more European nights.. I cant imagine it. We are former champions, we're the best team in Scotland, we deserve a shot at the Champions League every year. In the Championship we wouldnt even have a shot at the Europa league........... * that

I disagree. Look at all of the times we made it to the round of 16 with Strachan with a modest, low-budget squad.. We dont have to sign megamillion players to be able to accomplish this, we just have to * play the game right.

If we were able to do it with the backing of most of the English league and ragners came with us then yes

I think we have to act soon, because as the EPL pulls away financially and we rot in the SPL, the time may come when the Championship or prem wouldn't accept a team of our standard.

i would take it. my only fear would be , if we get a couple of defeats under our belt how many managers would we go through. up here if we get beaten once we have all kinds of sack the manager threads. someone mentioned the stadium getting more and more empty when we have a run of bad results well imho and it is only my opinion , we dont need these kind of fans their tickets would be better served by fans who are as the song says , faithful through and through. i bet they would want their tickets back for finals or promotion.

Sky isnt hemoraging money far from it the this year surpased thair customer numbers and recorded its lowest level or customer churn and what is thair single largest products?? what is the main draw for the 11 million and counting customers in the UK & IRELAND??? add to that the fact that Espn and Bt will be compeating with rupets cash cow for a slice of the Epl pie when the next round of tv wrights come up for biding means that the Epl will continue to grow in terms of team revenue I know a lot of us get a hard on at the prospect of the so called Epl bubble bursting lol trust me not going to happend

and yes some if not most of the clubs are running at a loss but over the next few years due to rule changes as the regard to clubs income and expenditure genral attention to the bottom line lower wages and incressed tv revenue which is the only likely outcome of the next round of auctions will in time cemment the future of the EPl

As a bi product of the next round of Epl sales, will likely see the power of sky hemmed in by ESPN BT both of whom are determined to be major broadcasters of football Bt is make a mint out of its broadband service and ESPN is the worlds largest sports broadcasting network

In terms of money and growing support it will be a fantastic move. Atm it's impossible for this club to seriously challenge the champions league. That's historicaly where this club deserves to be. I think either the SPL should merge with a different league or celtic should join the premier. Unless the supporters think challenging the title for the SPL is enough to keep them happy. Cos in europe you need money to make it.

it might have been said before but i think if we moved to the EPL with the tv money celtic would be in the top 10 within a couple of seasons, then after that top 6. easy. but thats just my opinion.

I've stated before that the supporters who go to the games home or away have to be given a vote when any proposal to leave our league arises.. I'd go with what the majority of them decide..

Financially , leaving Scottish football behind would be great and even better if we left the huns behind too..

What right have celtic to march into the top flight in the epl....we would get shagged by most of the teams and even in the champ 2 we would find it very hard going....EVERY team would want to stuff us and show they beat the mighty celtic.
The first 10year would be about finding our feet....how many teams there have spent huge amounts of cash and still failed so big sspending would not be the answer.
I doubt they would let us in and not want the huns aswell.
But this is all dream land....they dont need us.....dont want us.....and why would any of the teams vote for us to join when we could and after some time be bumping them down a place or worst case taking a league cop off them.
But that said....celtic has to move.....we will never lift a european cup again while playing in scotland.....our league is so poor money and player wise that we just cant get the players to do well in europe.
Sky has been around for so long and is making plenty of profit so they are not going anywhere, they also need the epl to keep the cash floowing in so both of them are not going to change anything...so the cash flow into the epl is going to be there for some time and so is its affect on our efforts to sign class players.
In short we must move.....scotland cant put the sort of cash into the spl that sky puts into the epl so we will always be a poor league.

It would require backing from 14 clubs

There were 3 or 4 last time that were in favour as well; O'Neill, Redknapp and Moyes were vocally in favour and of course Bolton themselves initiated it.
