The situations are very different. Firstly, as has been ably pointed out, look at the standard of players inherited by Barnes: Petrov, Mjallby, Lubo, Viduka, King Henrik (albeit he missed the last ten of Barnes' 20 game stint), etc. Mogga inherited Strachan's ageing, stale, predictable squad of Caldwell, McDonald, McManus, Naylor, Loovens, etc. He has reinvigorated parts of this squad (Sammy, McGeady, Crosas, Hinkel, although he was solid under Strachan too) and has shipped out some of the aged crap that clogged the wage bill. I also find it funny to hear Caldwell described as 'one of our best players' after the guy received 4 years of abuse (with a six month intermission) on this forum and at Parkhead for being 'pish'! I never liked Caldwell, as a centre-half nor as a celtic man, but he was probably the best of the 3 ponies we have. That said, Mogga has moved him and Robson, a valiant servant but an ageing one, on and brought in new faces who everyone is creaming over (Hoos and Ki). But when the question comes to Mogga staying, for some reason, the Robson and Caldwell tranfers are used as examples of him 'dismantling the great side that threw the league up away last year'. Mogga inherited a weak squad and has, thus far, strengthened it very well. Out Hesselink, Hartley, Caldwell, Robson, Donati, Balde, etc (all big earners who were ageing or past it.) In (N'Guemo, great signing, Fox, massive improvement on Naylor as Saturday proved, Ki, by all signs and reports a real coup, Fortune, most controversial but I see a player, just needs correct partner, ZZ, another real snip for an experience, versatile player with real quality.) Give Mogga time, Rome wasn't build in a day and where Barnes inherited some top top players and splurged money to improve them on Bercovic and Scheidt, Mogga inherited a broken unit and is trying to clear it out anf fix it. I for one believe he will. Hail Hail!

Edit, what I do accept and worry about is where the experience and leadership is going to come from in Moggas side. Whatever you say about Robson and Caldwell as footballers, they were both leaders and that is vital in a good old firm side, llok at the Huns side atm. That is a concern I accept and hope he has considered too, I'm sure he has. I think big Hoos (spelling?) by all accounts, could be the sort of personality we need, although his credentials as a really quality centre half are not certain, imo...

The thing about Tony Mowbray is that he got this job on the back of a relegation. Since when have Celtic ever appointed a Manager on that basis. This appointment was driven by what salary he would do this job for

i back TM for now and trust him to have Celtics best interests at heart,Caldwell was good but with his contract up TM had no choice,Fortune looked the class player he is untill bad injury against Arsenal, Broonys been carrying a injury all season,McGeady has shone with a regular run, also with,N'Guemo ,ZZ ,and the other new young lads signing think we are in better stead for the rest of the season.Just need a decent striker and then think we got a chance for the title.

Nothing really, everything has too many variables, so instead of comparing to the past (which I know will always happen) we should be concentrating on the hear and now and the future.

Comparing statistics from this season with 10 years ago is pointless as you aren't comparing like with like.
