    For a start, Casablanca is over 70 years old so that's irrelevant. Secondly, I don't even think it's the best. But its in the top 5.

    And finally, IMDB seems to agree with me.

    Hardly going to win any oscars, but it's superb :56::56::56::icon_mrgreen:

    One of the worst films I've seen in recent times is There Will Be Blood.

    Fell asleep watching it the first time....watched it fully the second time round wishing I had fallen asleep again.

    I will be slightly controversial here as well with my inclusion of Inception. It probably really is a smashing film, but I've watched it about 3 times now and still can't * understand it :56::56::56:

    i liked the matrix too, the bit that lost me with it was the onboard spaceship inside a cave with loads of monsters around :97:
    sure it was part of the story line but i prefered the idea of them being inside the machine

    Your first point makes absolutely no sense, at all. Secondly, its nowhere near the top 5 of the last 20 years, one of your favourites fair enough, but absolutely never one of the best.Parts of that list is all over the place, for instance, fight club and forrest gump are "better" than citizen kane and apocolypse now, no way, so not totally reliable. Still though, you havent really answered my question, who thinks the matrix is a classic film? If its such a popular opinion it shouldnt be too hard to answer.

    aw jeeze mate, no harm to you but if that's your thoughts on the film then I don't think you've quite grasped the story. Give it another watch some time or read about it, took me a good 3 watches to properly love it.

    I compared it to other films from the last 20 years, so bringing up those films is just a waste of words.

    And what? Do you want names of people I know who love the film? Their facebook names? Not quite sure what you're asking me for. All I know is the film was massive and was recognised as such. It got 4 Oscars, 5 BAFTAS, many more other awards.

    Em, no. If its such a popular opinion that its a classic, surely a film critic or other directors would have said so. But they havent, because it isnt. Winning oscars for effects means it has good special effects, its not a guarantee that its a good film.
