    Unbelievable pass and vision for a defensive midfield player and despite the beleif that he doesnt do any defensive work he is absolutely vital to real madrid and puts in double the shift modt of the players do. and to add even more to this he has free kicks and a great shot to boot ! would walk into the barca team past busquets

    the best defensive mid is easily essien. yes guys like alonso and busquets are better passers of the ball, but essien would eat them alive in a tackle, which a CDM is meant to do.

    wont mention the obvious ones cos everyone knows them and we'll never 100% agree not saying hes anywhere near the best but for a young lad was quite impressed with that sandro chap end of last season at spurs thought he looked a beast

    Xavi Alonso easily. The most under-rated player around; Solid in the tackle, great shot and ridiculous shooting ability.

    If he played for Barcelona he would be noticed a * of a lot more.

    He most certainly wouldn't. Busquets holds the team together defensively.

    Alonso couldn't do that for Barcelona.

    His opinion isn't wrong. Busquets came second in a poll of 73 votes. That hardly makes everyone who thinks Busquets is the best defensive midfielder in the world wrong. :50:

    I also think he did well as we have 3 Man U fans Madmoncur, Holy Pope and Jamesy Bhoy and I think Man U fans tend to hate Barca, if then never supported Man U I think they might have voted for him and he could habe won.

    I looked back all the votes there and they never voted for Puyol, Pique or Alves either in previous votes who many would consider as the best three in their positions.

    Just an observation.

    If last season's CL final showed us anything, this board has overwhelming support for Barcelona, so there's no conspiracy! Alonso is simply the better footballer than Busquets.
