Yeah Draxler seems to he living off his potential of 5 years ago, and not his actual performances throughout the season.

Only two pacey players and Reus is massively injury prone. Not taking Sane could backfire.

Shocking really but good for City fans I suspect. Shame for the player even if he hasn't been great for the NT, he is without question the most devastating outfield player Germany has

There has to be more to the Sane dropping, has to be.

I get players can be over rated but he is just off the back of a flying season with the Premiership champions and he was a jewel in the crown.

Quick, direct, positionally excellent and provides goals and assists.

Hilarious seeing the meltdown from the English media about Sane :giggle1: He’s been shocking for Germany by all accounts.

Doesn’t seem a Low type player either.

You’d think Brandt was some sort of diddy the way they’re reacting as well...

Think it's bonkers personally, he started the last two games in which they lost, so maybe something down to those performances.

Looking at the squad they have 5 centre backs, two left backs, one right back. Then have 5 centre mids, with Rudy probably in there as a back up right back, could even say 7 central positional wise midfielders, with Ozil and Draxler suiting the #10 role as well.

Leaves just Reus and Brandt. Reus not giving you width, don't think Brandt is giving you Sane like pace. Reus injury prone, wouldn't be a shock at all if he was injured In the first game.

Makes me think they might play Muller wide, Werner through the middle.

    Werner
    Reus --- Ozil --- Muller
    Khedira - Kroos
    Hector - Hummels - Boateng - Kimmich
    Neuer
Still think they are missing a trick, Sane a game changer late on in games if needed.

It's not an English media meltdown and it's well placed into the bargain.

Brandt is a good player, Leroy Sane is potentially one of the best on the planet. Levels.

    That's the likely side.

Still though, as you say a bit nuts not to even include him. Could have dropped Rudy out, I know he is versatile but it is worth taking the risk when you have a game changer in Sane who also happens to be one of the most in form players in the world from the last 12 months.

I’d trust Löw to pick the players he wants in his squad, tbh, he’ll have had a rationale behind his decision.

Low explained: ‘That was a very close decision between him and Julian Brandt, which was made in favor of Brandt. Draxler, Reus and Muller are set.

‘Leroy is a huge talent. He will be back again from September. He had not arrived in international matches yet. It was a very close decision. If it was a 100 metre race, it would have been a photo finish.’

So basically Draxler, Reus and Muller get in the squad regardless if someone is playing better.

Muller is a big character for Germany so I can see his thinking there, Reus is the same but extremely injury prone, but Draxler is clearly living off his past potential and is clearly a darling of the German football hierarchy.

he's just not replicated his club form with the national team, he's had chances and hasn't taken them

Can see Lowe's explanation but I'm still not buying it, many players don't replicate Club form at National level but they're still there.

He's an infinitely better player than Brandt and Draxler who, for me, is vastly over rated as a player.

Definitely, it’s a nonsensical decision devoid of sporting logic. They not only lack width but a genuine game changer

Agree that there has to be more to it outside of sporting reasons

I don't think there's any ulterior motive, Low just doesn't play with out-and-out wingers and never really has.

    2012 Euro: Podolski - Gomez - Ozil
2014 WC: Muller - Klose - Ozil or Götze - Muller - Ozil
2016 Euro: Draxler - Muller - Ozil or Draxler - Gomez - Muller with Ozil in behind.
2017 Confed: Draxler - Werner - Stindl with Draxler actually captaining them, which says a lot, they even played Goretzka further forward.

Sane doesn't really fit the mould, but I think he'd be deadly down the left with Werner to hit in the middle and Muller back stick. Low likes to have an out and out striker through the middle with a Muller playing off him and more of an attacking mid coming off the other flank.

I would actually have taken Sane myself, but nonsensical is a stretch :56:he clearly hasn't impressed Löw in training enough to warrant his place purely for footballing reasons, Sane doesn't seem like a particularly troublesome character. Löw is a manager who is a World Cup winner, he knows his stuff. I think Germany will still go very far in the tournament (semis at least) and if they don't win it, it won't be because they didn't call up one player.

Difference is now though is that with Werner up top they have real pace down the middle, so it compensates for Sane's absence.

I'm glad for Reus, he's been * by injuries for previous tournaments. I would have taken Sane, but brandt is top class and by all accounts he's played better for the national team than Sane. Maybe Draxler should have missed out but he's a bit more versatile. When they start destroying everybody the world will forget all about it anyway.

Brandt is a great talent while Draxler is someone who Low can depend on and in general has been a good performer for the national.

In all honesty I think at times Sane can be a bit one dimensional, international football and more specifically tournament football is not gonna be as open as Premier League football where Sane can really use his pace to great effect. I feel perhaps guys like Brandt and Draxler are a bit more clever and a bit more gifted in tight situations in terms of their movement, ball retention, close control and ability to help open up a defence.

Think people rate Sane a lot higher than these two purely because they've watched him a lot more over the past couple of seasons and perhaps only see Draxler in the CL whenever he starts or the odd international for Germany.

I think you're underrating Brandt mate..

I'd 100% of taken Sane but I wouldn't be surprised if Brandt absolutely tears it up. There's a reason 2 of the best attacking side's in Europe (Bayern, Liverpool) were desperate to snap him up a few month's ago until he rejected them and signed a new 2 year deal..

I feel this will be him turning up at 21 on the big stage..

Sane supposedly hasn't done anything for Germany and the Germans have seemingly went with a host of player's that can play a number of different positions, where as good as Sane is....he is a left winger only really..
