How did France * that?! At home, opposition's key player and often sole-goal threat off injured in the first half. I predicted France before the tournament but that had to be the sign of some mental weakness.

I appreciate watching great players, whether that be Messi, Ronaldo etc..:39:

Rather hypocritical anyway, I fully expect you to crawl up Messi's hole if he scores a hattrick tomorrow..:giggle1:

What did Kristina even do in 2016? Portugal finished 3rd and didn't win any games en route to the final where Kristina left the pitch in tears in the opening 15 mins.

Messi carried his team to a WC final. It was much more impressive from an individual perspective.

Portugal were good, mental strength. And the best example ever of a player being more important than the manager with Ronaldo’s performance on the touchline :56:

Fantastic game will be surprised if we see a better one in this tournament, makes up for the * that was on earlier, Ronaldo is an absolute machine.

    Odd.

Anyway, Ronaldo on 3 for the tournament now. Iran and Morocco looked terrible earlier, though they'll both play 10 behind the ball the majority of their upcoming games. Could definitely see him taking the golden boot this year.

Vladimir Smicer has a CL medal and Moravcik doesn’t. But I still know Moravcik was a better player.

I'm not * off Ronaldo scored a hat trick and don't take the GOAT arguments seriously, I'm * off because Spain played some beautiful football there and totally handed it to Portugal, it's really annoying seeing a team humped but come away with a point. Unless it's Scotland.

Taking off Costa was a huge mistake but Hierro will learn

    * will regret not enjoying the two GOATS for what they are, I * get off seeing these two do the unimaginable. I hope Messi scores a hatty in his game and they both keep banging them in on the way to the final!

Honoured to of watched them since they made their debuts at 17/18 years old. :notworthy

Ronaldo's a better captain than Messi, did you see him on the sidelines at the Euros? Telling Eder he'd score the winner, convincing Moutinho and Fonte to take penalties vs Poland. He's an incredible leader. While with Messi you always hear various stories of him not getting on with certain players so who knows how his national teammates feel with him, maybe they feel it's the Messi show and he doesn't act like a galvanising figure in the same way that Ronaldo does?

These are the type of things you have to consider. Debate all you want about who is the better player, but one thing is for sure Ronaldo gets the edge in terms of leadership and mentality.

Silva's unreal, best player in that Spain team along with Iniesta. Eye for a pass (and ability to actually make the pass) is unmatched.

I’m not sure about that, I’ve seen Ronaldo actively get angry when his team mates score and not him. Look at what he done just before Nacho’s goal? That petulance could have cost them the game.

From everything I’ve always seen about Messi he leads by example. Both are very good leaders, amazingly so. Argentina’s FA are absolutely * though and the players hate them, I think that’s something more to do with it than Messi being in anyway *. They’re completely rudderless without him there and that’s because he’s the only leader they’ve now got.

    Him and Mascherano.
