Good post. And exactly, he's there to play tennis not to be a personality

Seriousy, thank * he lost. All this flag waving nationalism we've had to put up with this year has been dreadfull.

Dont know if i could have put up with it had he won.

That's true but if he comes across as being a bit dour, or not having much personality, then we can't be surprised when some people don't like him.

I get the feeling that Andy Murray is actually a nice guy, it's just that he gets very nervous when he's being interviewed on TV or doing press conferences. If you watch him being interviewed you will see that he keeps touching his face, this is a dead giveaway that he's not comfortable on camera. It's not his fault, some people are just like that.

Hopefully the show of emotion after today's match will have let people see another side to Andy Murray and will encourage more people to get behind him from now on.

Was gutted for Andy. He was beaten by quite simply the best man to ever grace that court.

I think if he sticks with Lendl he has the ability to win 5+ slams. I really do.

    You'll see mate.

I have been in two minds in the past about whether Murray would win a slam. But now I definitely feel he has what he didn't have before.

Under Lendl's mentoring he will do it, and you'll be feckin luvvin it. :50:

"So Murray isn't going to win the Merryville Festival of Grins any time soon. What difference does it make to you, you needy *? Can't he just play tennis without having to turn around after each point and pull a happy face just for you, like he's your dad watering plants in the garden and you're a toddler watching him through the kitchen window? What do you want, a tennis champion or Mister Tumble?"

I've been waiting for Muzza to win a slam since the US final against Feds back in 08.

Hurts seeing him not get it today. His time will surely come though. Feds won't be around forever.

For me Federer is a man who exudes class on and off the court, he plays the game with a style of grace and elegance that is a joy to watch.

Unlike a lot of others in the game he dosen't have a powerful physique but he can still generate great power and precision through technique and timing, he's got all the tools in his locker, great defence, blistering forehand and a supremely deft touch around the net.

Andy gave it everything but sometimes you've just gotta hold your hand up and admire the genius that is Roger Federer.

Henman won the Frankfurt Open or something like that, its the only thing he won, Murray has won about 22 titles plus got to 4 Grand Slam Finals so that makes Murray a lot better than Henman and Andy's still only 25.

Just read through his article, a very witty character. And finally, a columnist who doesn't give Andy dogs abuse for not smiling every 5 seconds. :50:

He has some interesting stuff to say about the media as well.

One of the few newspaper writers I have any real time for.

I think alot of people forget what happened to Murray when he was a kid. Witnessing something like that would have a much more adverse effect on people's personality than it has on Murrays.

The dour faced miserable issue is more indicative of Britain as a nation that it is of Andy Murray.

Firstly, he is a sportsman and it's not a personality contest. Secondly, he is world class at what he does and he should be lauded for it not down trodden for not smiling. It's not as if he is stealing lollipops off 4 year olds or * on your doorstep he is just a focussed sportsman that gets nervous when he conducts interviews. Big whoop.

Agree, watching federer in top form is similar to watching messi playing football in the way that you just know your watching the absolute best there is. And for a guy whos 30 years old he seems to be in better shape than most think, the younger supposedly fitter murray and novak were the ones huffing and puffing and losing their footing as the matches went on all the while federar looked calm, composed and fresh.

I don't think today's result suddenly means that Roger Federer is the best player around again. The rankings might say he's back to World number 1 but the rankings aren't always gospel. I'd still say Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal are the best at the moment, I'd give the edge to Djokovic myself.

That's Djokovic, Nadal and Federer all won one Grand Slam each this year. The tag of 'best player' should probably go to the man who wins the US Open(assuming it's one of those 3).

Make it more interesting and give Murray the US. 4 different GS champions in a year. When was the last time that happened?
