It's supposedly random, so yes, as a 4th seed you could face either the first or second seed in the semis, but if you look at the slams in recent years, it stands out how often Djokovic and Federer were in the same half, where in theory it's a 50-50 chance.

Don't wanna be cynical or anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if Murray lands in Federer's half more often than not, while Federer is in the top two. Draws so often come out in a way, where Nadal and Federer can only meet in the final.

Indeed, RB - he could learn a lot from your graciousness when the result doesn't go your way. :86:

Okay, just checked and in the 19 slams starting with the 2008 Aussie Open, Federer and Djokovic have been drawn in the same half 16 times, which is quite incredible.

The injury faking bit is simply not true. Federer has never in his career retired during a tennis match and hardly ever asks for a trainer. If you're referring to his back injury this week, then if you actually watched the Malisse match, you'd see he actually was moving terribly and was clearly bothered. You can call him arrogant or smug or whatever, but an injury faker he certainly is not.

Nadal (or his camp) is much worse. It has become very predictable to hear news of some kind of Nadal injury come out shortly after his defeats, esp. at slams. No different this year, where he cancelled a massive charity match that was supposed to be played at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid against Djokovic due to alleged knee issues that prevent him from playing. In an exhibition, not a proper match and with about 30000 tickets already sold.

Djokovic kept abusing medical timeouts all the time, when he was breaking through on the scene, nearly every tight match there was something supposedly bothering him. Thankfully he has cut that * out almost entirely in recent times.

The 2nd set proved pivotal. It's all ifs and buts, however I thought Murray would have went on to win had he went two sets up. He played very well but didn't take the chances he was given or created for himself. From the third set onwards, his service game deserted him and once Roger started playing his best tennis, then there was no way back for Andy.

I'm not 100% sure what the story is with this.

In the 2010 US Open the top 4 were seeded in the following order:

    1. Nadal
    2. Federer
    3. Djokovic
    4. Murray

    If all 4 had reached the semis it would have been Nadal v Murray(1 v 4) and Djokovic v Federer(2 v 3).

In the 2011 US Open the top 4 were seeded in this order:

    1. Djokovic
    2. Nadal
    3. Federer
    4. Murray

    The semi-final line-up was Djokovic v Federer(1 v 3) and Nadal v Murray(2 v 4).

So the same tournament was drawn differently in 2011 to how it was in 2010. Wimbledon was also drawn differently this year to how it was last year. I don't know why.

The last 3 Grand Slam events have all been 1 v 3 and 2 v 4 in the semi-finals so it will be interesting to see what happens with the US Open draw.

How was your Sunday Metro mate? :bbpd:

Well done to Roger, always said he was nowhere near finished. Not only that but at his best he is still an absolute genius and the best in the world.

Andy will come back from this and he WILL win a Slam. Nae doubts about it, he is still improving.

Basic rules are like this I believe:
Top seed in top half, 2nd seed in bottom half. Then #3 and #4 are randomly placed in each of the halves to meet the top seeds in the semis.

Seeds 1-8 are scheduled to meet seeds 25-32 in R3, 9-16 meet 17-24. Then of course 1-8 to meet seeds 9-16 in R4 and seeds 1-4 to meet seeds 5-8 in the QFs.

 Show me examples of the contrary.

Seems strange to say it after losing again, but today convinced me that Murray is now ready to win a slam.

Even when down, and with Federer playing some breathtaking stuff, the old mental weaknesses were a lot less in evidence than in the past. I think The Ivanator is imparting some of his steely Slavic determination...

    Hail, Hail
Flitted in and out of the tennis. However I have read some comments on here and via twitter.

Jealousy is rife amongst some people and the comments refer little to the match itself. Had a discussion with a friend about the whole crying part; it doesn`t matter he just won £500,000. Well I think the tears would show the opposite, I believe he would swap the cheque for getting his hands on the title. Being a winner does actually mean more to some sportsmen than financial rewards.

Onto the argument about Murray being "just another Henman"; someone posted the stats on a previous page which show otherwise. Murray has performed well and has developed year upon year. His problem is that he has 3 top drawer players in-front of him; he can compete with them and he just needs the 1 occasion in a major event to take the next step.

A lot of negativity flying around, in regards to his persona and its totally irrelevant.

Best of luck to the guy and hope he proves all the doubters wrong.
