If you haven’t already bought one will you buy an Electric Vehicle in the future.
I will never buy one.
Probably next year or year after, will buy another diesel automatic.
With my health issues won’t be around long enough to care what the * in wasteminster try to force on me.

Yes, eventually because there will be little choice. At the moment where I live doesn't have the infrastructure and although electric cars are cheaper than they were they are still expensive.
If the infrastructure was there I'd be more inclined.Easter Rd Davie likes this. -
I said no until I learned your getting cars like the iconic N with 600bhp 0-60 in 3s..without supercar upkeep costs, ffs I can't ignore and be biased about that type of thing :56:
So eventually I will, but it'll need to be a stunner to force me over as I still think they all look a bit big and heavy SUVish.
Now what i worry about.. the car breaks. Can you take them down to your we local garages to get sorted or are you stuck with main dealer pricing? * that.Last edited: Apr 3, 2025 -
I've had one for a couple of years and really like it. Probably wouldn't go back to petrol. If anyone who is considering one has any questions, feel free to ask.
-
I stay in a flat and there are no charging points nearby so that is one reason, but the price is another we wouldn't get one. My dads wife has one and the price to charge at night is some saving but unless you can charge at home, there doesn't seem to be a point.
If we move into a house in the future and can charge at home then I would look at it then.Last edited: Apr 6, 2025Easter Rd Davie likes this. -
I bought the new 3008 hybrid in Jan just to dip my toes in,its all about seeing whats happening in future, they said EV wont be taxed and now they taxing them what else have they got lined up for scam charges we wont know for a few years yet so im holding off till we see a clear outcome.

Also, anyone looking at a full hybrid
£21k for a battery pack for a Range Rover that has done 66k miles. Our car is a mild hybrid but the battery on them is just a bog standard one that does * all anyway I think. -
Trying not to but somehow I feel we are being pushed towards it.

Thought about it but I'm in * end of Hereford, out in the back of beyond and only just got electric light. Plus I have to travel to Bonnie to see family, that's one * of an extension lead and rewinding it on the return seems too much of a hassle. :56:

The main reason is that I despise how technology based cars are these days. I * hate touchscreen buttons and the digital dashboard. Give me physical buttons and an analog dash every day of the week.
Also brake-by-wire just give me the fear. Hydraulic brakes all the way for me.
Cars peaked in 2017. Engines are so much more efficient than they used to be. I'm always going to have a German diesel car.
Also, most of the EV sales are from the fleet sector for company cars or salary sacrifice hires. It's not a fair representation of the general public preference, IMO.
The people who are buying new EVs for themselves, you can pretty much guarantee that they will have other ICE cars in their garage that they will utilise for any serous long-distance driving.
And the other point I will obviously make is that EVs are hardly that much better for the environment. I'm going to paste a few quotes from a Financial Times article that will explain it better than I can.

Have a 330e hybrid currently, every chance my next will be a full electric.
Was in a Tesla Plaid S last year, a Time Machine rollercoaster rocket ship. Should actually be illegal how quick it moved from a standing start. -
EDIT: I've been done by an April fools. Hahaha
I'm not sure if this is legit or not yet. I have lifted this from twitter, so pinch of salt until it's official.
But it does follow the trend. Another attempt to force the market, limiting the range of ICE cars.
EVs will never compare to ICE in terms of range, so this is one way to level the playing filed. Make it worse for everyone. What a load of bollocks.
It's a war on motorists, not emissions. I wish more people would understand this

Falling for fuel tanks being reduced in size * me :56::56:
Coming next…. they plan on making wheels bigger so you get to your destination quicker… -
Have two hybrids nearing end of life and focused on non-Tesla EV solutions but no clear choice after learning of a family friend’s experience with their iX (friend loves BMW but wouldn’t buy electric models)
Now, he doesn’t have appropriate infrastructure or needs for an SUV but made compelling arguments on day to day frustrations with EV tech vs ICE UI and painful headrest issues
Unless a clear EV option soon emerges I may regrettably consider another hybrid -
The only thing that puts me off getting one through salary sacrifice at work is the lack of public charging. I live in a flat and the cost (and charger availability) just doesn’t work for those in my situation.

I considered buying one but decided to keep my car instead.
I’m not against them but would like to see some improvements before I jump over. -
