    Still young. His defending looks suspect but his attacking play is excellent, similar to Cha in many ways.

    I think he is a lot better abilty wise than Wilson but Wilson is playing too good atm moment for Mathews to break into the first team however I do think he'll feature this season.

    Matthews looks a good wee player for the future maybe he can play as a winger as well as a defender? He looks good going forward and comfortable on the ball, things wont be rushed though with this wee fella he has lots of potential just now but thats all it is.....

    first and foremost i hope Wilson stays injury free for the season, Lennon will be very careful in managing him over the season and no doubt Cha and Matthews will have plenty of opportunities.

    Great to think for cup games we can rest a lot of first teamers and not lose out too much in quality.

    Wasted on the bench? after 1 competitive game. He will play a good few games this season, 15 at least, maybe most from the bench unless injuries play a part and he will fill in.

    Matthews has came into the side and plays in positions where guys were excellent last season and deserve there place in the side. Matthews will just have to keep impressing in friendlies and training to oust whoever in which ever position. i have high hopes for him as he has the potential to be pretty awesome, but right now he has to wait his turn

    i think we'll be seeing M. Wilson and Izaguirre rested more than last season. Matthews looked very good last night and will have his chance to prove his worth this season. good to see we have someone to cover Izaguirre as last season Mulgrew proved he was better in the middle than out wide.

    for me, defence is sorted. wingbacks of M. Wilson, Cha, Izaguirre and Matthews and the centre backs of K. Wilson, Mulgrew, Majstorovic and Rogne is great imo. next season i'd like to see us replace Majstorovic with someone in their late 20's. but that's me getting ahead of myself.

    Last night he looked too good to leave out. Having said that, should he just start ahead of Wilson who has benn excellent over the last 12 months?

    Good to see he can play on either flank, although he's not going to displace Izzy.

    Could be used in MF as well, I would imagine...

    I know we haven't seen much of the lad but he could turn out to be a great signing!!!

    Same here. Think both him and Cha are out of contract next summer and both are getting on a bit so would imagine we'll probably let them go on frees.

    I rate Cha and think he has been really unlucky to lose his place after he went to the Asian cup last season, he has tremendous pace and is also tall with strength.

    I absolutely think he can break in past Wilson. Matthews has more pace and has more offensive output to bring to the game. Albeit, Wilson had a smashing year last year.

    Yes "Wasted on the bench" we can't play Wilson, Matthews & Izzy on the same team & RB/LB are not exactly positions subbed alot unless injury or strolling the game.

    He will be wasted but he will learn a lot from the guys in the first XI. This guy has the potential to be something very special. Has pace, can dribble, can defend and has an amazin throw in that would be like a corner to us!!

    2 years time......Matthews and Forrest rippin the SPL a new one :)

    Could challenge brown for a place in the team.the main reason brown is in the team at right mid is the fact he can defend and bring balance to the midfield.I reckon mathews will have more defensive knowledge than brown and going by reports he is def better attacking than brown
