I think he is a good player too but there is far more pressure playing for us than there is for Utd. Some men cant hack it i.e. pukki, scepovic. I'm not saying he wont cut it either btw im just saying that being a good player is not enough

For sure. We won't know what he's like for Celtic until he gets a decent run in the team particularly in the league where he is used to performing. I hope he makes it and becomes a really big asset for us because he does have a lot in his locker. Out of all of the all the SPL strikers that have come and gone in the last 3-4 years I think Ciftci has been the best.

The thing is, is that currently Griff deserves his place. That one spot is his. This puts Ciftci under immense pressure to score when he gets his chance. If he does not then the whole thing will only snowball. I seriously think that we should alter the formation so that he can partner griff and help him play with the pressure off him being the main goal threat lifted off his shoulders. If he does not settle and get going then we could be in big trouble if Leigh gets injured down the line.

Yeah I'd like to see both of them playing together. I think it would give defenders a nightmare having to deal with Griffiths' movement and pace as well as Ciftci's power and physicality, I wonder if Ronny would play with two strikers though, he likes playing one out wide and one through the middle.

He did make noises last season about going with 2 men up and I thought this was encouraging. He hasnt followed through though which is a worry.

To get Ciftci up to speed we have to go with 2 up front. We just can't drop Griffiths so it's the only option.

Hopefully the international break has done everyone the world of good and we come back with new ideas and a renewed belief.

Yeah. I think he's got more potential and more to his game than people give him credit for. He's not an out and out goal scorer but he will score more for us than he did with Dundee United if he gets the game time.

He could link up well with Griffiths to form a good partnership in the SPL.

Ive had my time ranting and raving on here, for us to qualify for the group stages and do well we need to sign a higher calibre of striker than what we have, but you know and I know that Peter Lawwell isn't going to go out and sign a 6-7 million pound striker anytime soon. I'm still * raging about the whole Malmo situation, and I can't see us beating Ajax or Fenerbahce at all in the EL, but I'm trying to be positive in our league anyway.

You're right about playing with another striker, there is no way he can lead the attack himself. Big problem is will Ronny play with 2 up???

Wait, how can he not lead the line himself? Don't think he's ever played on Scotland when he's not the lone man up top

I would guess never? That is not the point though. Playing him off Griff will take a heap of pressure off him. If he is our lone striker then the responsibly is to score. Griff owns that spot and this has to be taken into account because Cifcti will have few chances so the longer he gos without scoring the worse it gets. Playing him off griff will help him settle into the side. His main role will be to feed the striker and he will also have plenty of chances to get on the scoresheet himself.

You are right. We need him to show something though because an injury to Leigh Griffiths and it is a full on emergency.

Both of them up front be best in terms of goals scored. But if one gets injured then the whole system has to be changed until a return to fitness.

Unless Commons can sit in behind the striker like the olden' days.

Exactly. He was signed as someone who played as a lone striker.

Do you think he should play in front of Leigh?
I assume you will answer no. If not his chances will be limited from the bench. Can you not see that this could potentially affect his confidence if the goals do not come?

If we manage the player properly then he can play up top with Leigh. He will have plenty of chances to get the goals to settle him without the pressure of being the main man.

We dont have to play him as a lone striker. Can you not see the logic in this line of thinking?

edit this is short term, we can go back to 1 up top after he beds in
