I don't think we will no, realistically.

You never know, we'd need alot of luck as you'd expect and two or 3 real stand out players, particularly that elusive striker who can score crucial goals for us in Europe. Look at Dnipro, they have one standout player of real quality in Konoplyanka and a solid hard-working team behind him. If we could get a player or two of that quality we have every chance.

The fact we cannot keep ahold of our best players for more than 2 years though will probably put pay to that.

Maybe the Europa league at a push. But not with the current squad. We're completely toothless up-front in Europe.

Next year will be a Celtic vs Legia Champions League final. The hat-trick hero of the qualifiers will score an og and we win the big cup.

Agree with this . The teams that get far in these competitions are clinical . We need six or seven chances to score one . We are toothless up top in Europe , even our attacking midfielders like Johansen and Forrest have poor finishing . The club can win the Europa league but the current team is nowhere near it .

Europa. Stars would have to align. Would need to find a few gems at the same time, maybe a few youth guys peaking as well. Nice dose of luck.

Think it's fair to say we stumbled into the last 32 this year, so we probably have a lot of improving to do before we can knock around the latter rounds.

Guess the glass half full is that we looked in the wilderness before we popped up and got to the last 16 of CL few years ago, so never know when a good run could come.

As long as we remain a selling club it's deeply unlikely. If we could hold on to the standout talent that we develop and continue to build more talent around them then we could definitely have a team that could go far in the Europa League and while I highly doubt we could ever begin to compete with the finances in the Champions League we could get a few decent runs with luck.

Porto is a selling club. Doesn't do them any harm.

No. The financial gulf is just too big between us and the European elite.

This thread annoys me surely the aim to is to be as succesful as possible and that would be winning anything we compete or challenging to win anything we compete in? So in terms of Europe the europa league should be within our grasp in my opinion the previous clubs to win it are no bigger than us... Champions league realistically we should be happy with the last 16 but with a lot of luck quarter final is about as far as we can expect and that is even beyond our grasp without us being incredibly lucky in the last couple of times we were really really unlucky with the likes of AC Milan and juventus was a shambles barca are just on a different level but if we got the likes of Malaga etc we could turn it into a real tie

Europa league we could make the final/semis imo. However I think we'd need to be lucky with the draws, and play at our very best every round, and even winning a final is a massive ask without a Larsson-esque man up front to take the chances (we didn't win it even with larsson). Champions league is another level and we won't compete in that barring a miraculous performance/stroke of luck throughout. 3rd in the group and a run in the Europa would be a good test for us next year. Last 16 would be an achievement but I would expect us to drop out at that stage. Would rather see us in the Europa to actually compete.

fao of Sean Dalweer and Mcguirel, looks like the majority on here take the realistic viewpoint and not the blinkered approach. By the way, i take offence at you both calling me a liar.
