That is because the goal keeper is possibly the most UNDER APPRECIATED player on any football pitch.

Everyone loves to rant and rave about a striker - all of that glory.

But a truly great keeper is few and far between, as well, if not more so.

You can aleady see it and my fear is that the goalkeeping position could cost us the title.

I think Packie would have something to say about that, considering he made over 600 appearances for Celtic.

Just because we havent been blessed with great goalkeepers since Simpson, shouldnt mean we lower the standard of legendary status.

I love Packie, especially in his earlier years, but Boruc was way better. Packie was definitely special to me because he was from Donegal too.. I really doubt many fans would disagree that Boruc was better than Packie, besides maybe BTG and a few others.

Anyway, Boruc is a legend to many, myself included/'

Hmm, if you could point to the part where I said I thought Packie was better, that would be great?

Boruc on top form was better than Packie, im saying the fact that PB dedicated his entire career to celtic, making over 600 appearances in the process, should put him ahead of Boruc (who WANTED to leave the club) in the legendary ladder, though I think neither should be considered legends.

Simpson is considered a legend, aswell as the other lisbon lions because of what he and the team achieved, he was part of an era of which, this club will probably never see again. What did Boruc acheieve, other than a couple of league championships against a Rangers team who can only be described as absolutely * *.

For the record here, im not disputing Artur's ability, im questioning his apparent 'legendary status' amongst some fans

Complacency, bad lifestyle and a loss of confidence.

He had completely lost all his swagger by the time he left.

I have to question where the club were in motivating him. They seemed to just allow him to be out of shape, lack confidence and refuse to deal with some of his suspect behaviour

The blame has to lie with Boruc for being out of shape and his suspect behaviour, he's a professional footballer who gets paid thousands of pounds a week, how can you blame the club for what Artur does?

Thanks for the input, real insightful.

Im guessing you would probably call Robbie Keane a celtic legend as well

I'm not blaming them. But at some point you see your no.1 loosing their way you get them back on track. They were his employees. Granted they couldnt tie him up and make him behave but his behaviour at times was indulged too much in my opinion

2005-2008 - Genuine world-class keeper, constant jawdropping saves.

08/09 - Put on weight - made several blunders, average performances.

09/10 - Very poor positioning for most of the season - lots of soft goals.

Excellent the first 3 years, average as muck keeper the last 2 seasons IMO, he's certainly not 'world-class' anymore - in the same way Shevchenko or Michael Owen aren't anymore.

Don't think the reason for his collapse was anything to do with motivation TBH. He was performing poorly in the Champions League and internationally for Poland, how can that not motivate you?

You think none of the staff at the club would have had a word with him?
