:50: none taken. I just was trying to say that people are too concerned on what the papers write about us and Im more concerned on what the real football fan thinks. I ve lived about the world so I defo not saying those that dont attend dont matter.

    Sound mate.
I just think (if you look at my posts in this thread) is that there sohuld be a way to compromise. Both sides seem extremely ignorant to anything else but their own views. Fair enough, but when it starts to harm Celtic (the club we ALL support) then instead of bickering over who's right or wrong, grow up and think of a solution.
    Does that seem fair?

I * detest this generalization you speak off. Like a fan of this club is somehow lesser than others because they don't attend Celtic Park week in week out.

You attend Celtic Park weekly do you? You travel all the way from Thailand every week to be in attendance yes? If not, you must be another one of those "armchair supporters" you so eloquently put it.

You're an embarassment to every Tim on here from Mexico to the Czech Republic who don't/can't attend games weekly.

I myself don't attend every single game due to income reasons lately. I suppose I'm just another "Armchair supporter" aswell am I?

    Poor show. :38:

Let's focus our thoughts towards Celtic Football Club and only Celtic Football Club, not the Celtic PLC Board, the Celtic Board of Directors, Peter Lawwell or Desmond, just CFC.

We like to think of ourselves as Celtic supporters as being a pretty tolerant bunch, yet we are allowing a few mindless morons to undermine the whole stabilty of this great club and institution by allowing them to put up such banners as seen at the Udinese match.

I don't give a toss about the Scottish gutter press and their rants on the TV and papers, as we all know that the vast majority of them are Huns and anti-Celtic. However chanting Pro-IRA songs and waving such banners does little for Celtic's reputation around the world. I travel the world with my job and it's absolutely amazing to hear Celtic Football Club being held in such high regard in most places, so the last thing I want is to see is Celtic's fantastic reputation tarnished by the morons.

Get back to supporting Celtic, we're not politicans, we're football supporters, keep it simple Bhoys !!!

...and with that, you've chosen your side. Calling for unity, yet calling us morons?

That is a bit of a contradiction in terms is it not?

Singing rebel songs does nothing for our reputation yet when you travel the world you see nothing but love for Celtic?

How does that work then when our reputation was built by the fans over the years and who were a LOT more vocal when singing the rebs and yet we are still loved?

.....to paraphrase a great man......Everyone, Season Ticket holder or otherwise, has their own particular part to play. No part is too great or too small; no one is too old or too young to do something.

:50: very fair, I just hate some of our fans being criminalized and insulted all of a sudden for what they have been doing for years.

It is *. But I think certain songs are being sung more just to prove a point. When I started going to games you hardly ever heard BOTOB, Soldiers Song (both of which I'm fine with) and others. Over the last maybe 5-6 years these songs are getting sang more and more and personally I feel that it's just to get it up everyone. Is a football ground the onyl place you can be vocal about your Irish heritage? Why not save it for the pub before or after the match?
I know what your saying that fans are getting criminalized and there would be nothing I would want more is to know exactly what we can or can not do just so we know where we stand within the laws of the sport.
But at the same time I feel out of all the fans that don't (and it's not 60,000 fans that take part in "illicit" chants and songs, it is a minority), I feel they are being victimised (if that's the correct phrase) as it is Celtic Fc that gets punished, not the fans that take part. So if Celtic get fined or banned then every one of us gets punished. Is that fair?

So yeah, compromise is needed here before this get's more out of hand. :50:

Anyone thinking we have only been singing these songs the past few years is off their head.

    Apology accepted.

However, you don't get any brownie points for being a smart *. :nonono:Your location said Thailand before the festive season and your name suggests nothing else.

So have a little think in future before you go calling people armchair supporters.

    Enjoy the festive season. :icon_mrgreen:

I'm surprised at the amount of people who keep saying this has crept in in the recent past :97:

Nah I think your wrong their mate, its just its getting highlighted more now from the meeja and other outlets to suit their own agendas i feel.

I have no problem with the RA chants going away as they harm the club and thats what we have been fined for, not for our songs that people seem to think.

i also think Lenny could of handled it better, he of all people should know the meeja would of used what he said against the whole support.

The point about armchair fans is a very pertinent one.

The biggest handwringers and apologists seem to be the ones who are never anywhere near Celtic Park or any away venue.

And yes, before anyone tells me , I am well aware that not everyone can afford to follow Celtic every week, their location makes it impossible etc etc. I'm not in any way shape or form having a go at anyone in that boat.

My tin hat is already on :celt_2:

I'm not saying they haven't happened, I'm saying they are happening more. I've been to almost every home game of the last 14 years and its only been in the last 5 maybe 8 years that it has been done more.

Funnily enough the rebel songs seemed to have died down a bit during a period under Strachan at the away games.
