Without injury and in the team' i think he may get up there with some of our tops scorers.

Only thing i didn't like about scott was if someone didn't pass to him in the box or someone had a shot on goal and didn't score his arms were in the air and he always moaned like *.:smiley-laughing002:

Used to drive me nuts when he did that.

Aye he likely will be. I fall into the camp that believes he is good, not as good as some make out, but certainly far better than those who say he is '*' :52:
Also, I liked him as a signing in the first place, so feel a wee bit smug as well now :icon_mrgreen:

Aye but it hasn't in this time. So no point moaning about it and bringing it up:smiley-laughing002:

Right, we get it, you don't like Hooper.

Even though you have said previously that Hooper was in the same class as Scott McDonald, who you have just claimed was better than Griffiths. Strange.

And also said you need to count Hartson and Sutton as after Larsson, so McDonald better than them two as well?

I wish people would stop bringing Hooper into Griffiths discussions, just completely derails the thread.

Don't care that he comes across as a goofy looking serial killer. He's banging in the goals more often than not and in the end it all comes down to that.

It's not his fault our team has been in a shambles for many years in Europe. Sure, Griffiths compared to Larsson, Sutton etc. doesn't sound very glamorous, but he's the least of our problems when it comes to CL football. but that's a differnet topic.

Way to go Leigh, you are proving a lot of people wrong.

Is this including scoring as a sub ?

What's the source for the figures mentioned ?

Seems too good a record :smiley-laughing002:

Must be 7 goals first season, 20 last year and 12 so far this year.

Thing is, who think's he can hit 50 all in this season? 50 in 2 and a half years would be extremely impressive.

Hooper was incredible for us, Griffiths isn't near that standard he can improve and maybe get close but Hooper was a more complete player - he could come short, hold it up, link up, go in behind and his finishing was a lot more clinical, that finish against the huns at Ibrox is one of the best goals I've ever seen us score.

Griffiths record is impressive but there is a lot of things he doesn't offer, I remember someone liking it to how Commons would play * but score a goal and his performance would never be remembered and I think its a little like this. He scores goals but that's all he does that is quality in his game, other aspects are sorely lacking and we're shown up for them in Europe when we can't hold the ball up, I don't think he controlled it and linked up once in Amsterdam, likewise away in Malmo this failure to keep on to the ball really hurts us and it's an integral part of any football team having a striker who can keep you up the park.

    Youl never walk alone.

He works hard and tracks back well. He can cross and assist other players. He can strike a ball well from outside the box aswell. He may not be the best at holding the ball up but asking a small player to do such a job is hard especially when the ball is being pelted up the park to him.

He may not be as good as Hooper but he has the potential to be.

It's nothing to do with being a small player, it's first touch, strength on the ball and awareness of those around you. Griffiths is strong for his size, he just needs to kill the ball into feet, shield it and bring his midfield into play.

It plays a part. How many times in Europe do we see us booting the ball up park and the other team regains possession. Small players will rarely beat a tall player in the air.

I loved Hooper as much as the next fan but let's not stick the rose tinted specs on.

He was a lazy * at times and after returning from injury he used to take half a dozen games to get back up to speed.

Neither of these things can be attributed to Griffiths as he's never given anything less than 100% from the minute he's been on the park until the minute he goes off it.

Then don't boot the ball up in the air. That's just daft.

Which Deila should be doing, which I think he is tbh. Mostly when there's any long balls it's either to Bitton whose moved up to give the option if the balls on the right or to Lustig whose done the same if the balls on the left.

Very rarely do you see it smashed up to Griffiths unless it's a clearance. He does very well to win these as well, he's good in the air. Really though, there's nobody running in behind him.

So ball to feet, hold up the ball into feet. That's where he's struggling and where he can improve or the ball into his chest, which he's getting better at.

"Works hard and tracks back well" Its just such a nothing comment, all of our players should be doing that and if they're not then we've got a problem.

I like Griffiths but it seems some of the biggest praise he gets is he works hard and tracks back well, is good at closing down etc etc that's just not the sort of praise you want to be hearing first about your main striker.
