    No, no, not at all.

Credit to him, he's doing a great job, but as others have said I'm hoping there is something more to come from him, most notably in a big game when things aren't going well or we need something against someone and bang. Obviously more towards Europe, but granted now he's getting more game time in these games we'll see how that develops.

I still don't think regardless of his stats, he's up there with the ones mentioned. Obviously he will get more game time, but the likes of Skippy scoring huge goals against AC Milan, Hooper scoring in our first ever CL away victory in the group stages and into the bargain scoring on his debut against Braga way back (and let's be honest they weren't a bad team, getting to Europa Finals and such).

I still think he has quite a way to go though.

Skippy only scored two European goals for us, didn't he? Man United and AC Milan?

I think he scored in the qualifier away to Dinamo Moscow when we won 2-0.

Didn't choose bad teams to score against in the CL proper all the same :smiley-laughing002:

    Very true mate.

That goal against Man United never gets a mention and it's one of the best European goals I've seen for us.

Also, away against Spartak Moscow (his debut I think?) he was * outstanding, put the ball in for Hartley's header if I remember right.

:56:LOL, true. The one against AC Milan helped us get into the Last 16 and Dinamo Moscow helped us into the CL proper.

    Not bad going. :smiley-laughing002:

Would really need a breakdown of who theses 50 appearances were against.

Unreal record, but as a lone striker he has a lot lacking from his game. Still our best striker by miles, currently.

He's an unfashionable player and most people are pretty uninspired by SPL signings. He looks a bit odd and the guy he was when he first joined was difficult to warm to in all honesty.

He's completely turned it around though, honestly there are very few players I've seen improve like he has over the past year. He honeslty has a claim now of being our best player, certainly on current form at least.

Right there. Unfortunately a lot of our support = "wee scottish guy that didn't cost a lot - pish."

    Well in Griff!

Why? So you can pick holes in it?

It's come from a reliable source and I'm sure you can pick holes in the records of any other striker that played for us.

Can't we just for once be happy that his goals coring record for Celtic to date is pretty spectacular ffs?

    In my opinion he has improved immeasurably from the guy we signed. I must admit to watching the Cup Final against the Hibees and thinking he would do a job for us, which he ultimately is doing. He has scored really important goals already this season, Malmo and Fenerbache to name only 2 but when comparing him to previous strikers I think we need to consider 2 very important points which are;
    1. Our team is no where near as good as it was (fact) and we therefore don't possess the same ability to make chances than when our so called great strikers were banging them in.
    2. Our team shape is mostly different now from what it has been in the past.

All in all he is doing a very good job and I think comparing him to the Legend that was Henrik is unfair because as we all know you don't get many of them turning up at Celtic Park. Hopefully he will continue to improve but it's been a remarkable turn around by the wee fella and long may it continue.

Im waiting for someone to come out with the line.....ah but the splsplsplsplsplsplf is weaker since he signed with no hibs, hearts or hun....blah blah blah.

No matter what some will just not give the guy credit without a....but.....on the end.

He has come here forced his way into the team past a few strikers including the world beater guidetti.

Someone posted on here the other day that we are creating more chances per match under Deila on average than we have under all our managers since O'Neill. And i think better than O'Neill's teams as well.
This is why in my opinion he is doing so well - he is having the chances to score. Not because he creates something out of nothing as he is not and never will be that type of player.

Obviously it's relevant to the statistics. He's got a better scoring record than Messi, if you want to look at by numbers alone :smiley-laughing002:

I'm not for one minute denying it's an incredible record. Let's call it curiosity.

Those stats are a wee bit misleading. How many appearances did the likes of Hooper or Larsson before they reached 50 starts? Probably less than the 70 odd that Griffiths has made. Impressive all the same though

You have been here long enough to know it would have been used at some point and it still might be.

He's not as * as some on here would have you believe, he's a great wee player.

    Better than Gary Hooper.

But not as good as the great Scott McDonald. He was some player in the hoops. Best striker since Larsson
