Whos your favourite celtic player not to make it

Can't believe I'm the only one to mention JK

 

mo donati and shay given

 

kennedy did make it here though, he just got cut short by a horror tackle

 

john kennedy for me such a shame his career was cut short had potential to be a class act

shay given was the biggest talent we left go no doubt

roy keane one of best players to play for us but was too old wen he came to CP

 

cant believe we let shay given go and had brad friedel at the same time to and let him go

na, thought Beattie would come good and wee bobby petta was great for a short while and the just dissapeared

 

Mark Burchill, thought he was something else and could have been a cebtral figure for both Scotland and Celtic, unfortunatly, both him and Celtic ran out of patience......

 

The reason the wee man never made it IMO was Celtic of his day didn't play the type of game that used creative midfielders to much.......


MON favoured the target man type play were the ball was pumped over the top of the midfield alot...........

JK played 28 games for Celtic and 1 for Scotland. He should have played 500 for Celtic n got into the SFA hall of fame.

Wouldn't say he made it

 

David Marshall for me, I was at his first full game against Motherwell just a couple of days after he came on at half time against Barcelona & he made some great saves.

Then that sensational night in Barcelona & the two stunning saves at Ibrox 3 days later. I still think he is a really good keeper but never reached the heights he should have done i suppose & think the Bratislava & Motherwell games killed his Celtic career although most of the goals wer not his fault.

 

Marshall, John Kennedy, Jamie Smith.... Shay Given.

 

Suppose this thread could have been divided up into two groups of players who big things were expected of, but never quite made it at Celtic

1. Celtic players brought up through the youth system, but never made it

2. Celtic players signed from other clubs who never made it

So for me I'd say

1. Shay Given, Gerry Crainey, Simon Donnelly, Liam Miller, Colin Healy & Raymond McStay

2. Tony Cascarino, Juninho, Thomas Gravsen, Derek Riordan, Marc Crosas (Not Yet) & Paddy McCourt (Not Yet)

Hopefully Marc & Paddy can still establish themselves at Celtic, Shay Given is obviously a player we should have kept but hinsight is a great thing. Tony Cascarino's Celtic career was over before it started, but we did get a geat swap deal with Tommy Boyd for him.......

 

definitely mccourt...i just hope he can up his work rate and have a great season
