    he means that where there is an automatic pick it means there is a lack of alternatives and a thin pool of talent.

    Majstorović, because he's by far the best player in one area of the team.

    Also Izaguirre, early signs say he's much better than Mulgrew and should establish himself as our primary LB, allowing Ledley to play in centre midfield more often.

    Well I've thought about this a bit more now, and I reckon if Lenny really, honestly, has Scott Brown as his main pick, then the first name on the teamsheet is probably NEEL.

    Cos he probably totally writes NEELZ TEEM SHEET at the top in big happy crayon letters. :rolleyes:

    Those players in that order then build the team around them. Good spine to the team there and I think that they are out most important players.

    I think what we can conclude from this thread is there is no automatic picks. We just have to hope there's a level of consistency from a number of players which will mean there will be come the end of the season.

    Every successful team needs a backbone of players that are considered first choice.

    Yeah, gunt answered this question mate. The truth is that we'd be struggling in a big way if certain players were to get injured or suspended.

    So far we've had Kayal, Forrest, McGinn, Mulgrew, Hooiveld, McCourt and Rogne out for spells and we've been fine without them but Forster, Izaguirre, Majstorovic, Brown and Hooper would be much tougher going to do without.
