I don't know who's gonna come in as manager but we need to get the best manager possible, mcstay is not in that category!

i dont think mcstay could handle the media pressures of the job, but i wouldnt be surprised if he was part of the next managers first team coaching set-up. ive got a feeling that it could be lennon, mcstay and stevie clark

    Maybe.

I think he is a good coach, as he showed with reserves and under 19's. Good football and he wona lot of games.

It's a big step up though.

Huge no on steve Clarke. It cost west ham millions for him.

Be interesting to see lennys managerial style....

Agree that it may be too much for willie..... I think we're in the same position we were in after barnes * it up, the board need to bring in someone who the fans will accept from the off..... Apart from wim I can't see them being able to bring anyone of the same level as o'neil unfortunately.....excited for the change but worried at the same time :(

Not a big enough personality I don't think. We are absolutely crying out for a figurehead just now, not just a football coach or a nice guy that likes Celtic. Someone that will galvanise (how apt to steal O'Neill's word) the entire club from top to bottom.

FFS, I thought if nothing else the one positive to come out of the TM tenure was undeniale proof that being 'Celtic-minded' is NOT some sort of pre-requisite for the manager's job. :31:

We need the best man for the job. We cannot afford another mistake.

100% agree best man for job not someone who has to have celtic/irish links. if they are the best then good but if not who cares

Slaven Bilic was my preferred choice last summer. Very disappointed that we didn't even approach him, he remains my number 1 choice. Paul Lambert seems to have it at a manager. I am well aware that he has only managed Wycome, Colchester and Norwich however despite what league Norwich are in, they are a fairly big club. He has taken them from a 7-0 drubbing at the start of the season (of which he was responsible as Colchester manager) to the clear leaders having won something like 23 of 25 in a very tough league.

10 years ago we could take our pick from Guus Hiddink and Martin O'Neill, how things have changed...

For the moment I am quite settled with the idea of letting Neily have first crack at it.

Neily had terrific positional sense and a great capacity to read the game as a player. Those could be very valuable abilities to have in your locker when it comes to setting up a team and deciding on tactics.

The next few weeks are going to be interesting to watch.

One thing worth a thought: After every World Cup there are managers that either decide that they have had enough, are given the boot or are out of contract.

I would hope the board take the time to appoint the right man, and in an ideal world would be ready to announce as such, as soon as the last ball of the season has been kicked. This would be done to give the new man as much time as is possible to line up transfer targets and to work with the squad, so that the team hit the ground running next season.

However, it will be interesting to see if any viable candidates get shaken free by the World Cup this summer.

I doubt that Bilic would even accept an offer...
He has been approached by numerous clubs in the past and his reponse each time was: "The Croatian NT is my first choice.. My dream job.. I am going to stay here as long as I am wanted"

They should put Boruc as a player/manager.. :D

Oh geez - tell me you're joking.

Keane has been an absolutely crap manager. Walked out on Sunderland after falling out with half the players and dumping them well and truly in the *. Was doing his level best for half of this season to get the relatively well-off Ipswich relegated from the Championship to League One.

He is a totally clueless * as a manager, and I'd barely trust him to walk his * dog without trouble.
