Anyone think John Robertson would be a good shout? Maybe working with Martin O'neil for so long he could maybe do a job going alone. Wherever MON has managed he has insisted JR be his assistant. If he's good enough for MON....

One guy with tenuous Celtic links that I'd like to see is Steve Clarke, currently West Ham assistant. He is a real organiser/defence minded and perhaps this is his chance to go it alone as a manager. What with Zola close to the chop for West Ham, it could be our chance..

dont buy into the celtic minded just want a manager who can get a team on the park with a desire to win and will roll up the sleeves and do the dirty work when required unlike some of the present team who expect someone else to do it when they lose possesion of the ball.

mcstay would be a major gamble. we need an experienced manager with a proven domestic and european track record, someone who has won some silverware if possible or done well at the top level of management.
he does not have to be "celtic minded" he needs to have a winning mentality.

Don't worry that he hasn't managed any big teams..... the key thing is that he has great experience, a good coaching brain and a load of respect in the game .

He is still in touch with Celtic park and is VERY fammiliar with all the fringe players and their ability.

Stein only managed Dunfermline and Hibs before the hoops, NO european experience .

Look at Walter Smith too, whether you like it or not he is due some credit, and he was only an assistant manager at Dundee utd and Rangers prior to his first spell there.

AND it would be kind nice too to be singing the McStay name at Celtic Park again.

AND the board will not have to pay 2 million £ in compensation to get him !

Get your money on him now !

I'll be putting a tenner on him tommorrow

What has he done to merit getting the job???? Jocky Scott has managed at a higher level than him :56: :56:

He won a few reserve leagues, no thanks, no thanks to Collins, Hughes and a few other CELTIC MINDED people, they are either not ready or not good enough.

Its time to aim higher, cause if we get this appiontment wrong, it will take years for us to recover.

Aye even Steve Clarke is a good shout. Both him (at chelsea) and John Roberston (at Celtic) may have only been assistants but have bags of experience.
Clarke has assisted very big names like Ruud Gullit, Mourinho, Avram Grant and Scolari. I dont know what kind of wages they are on at their current clubs but I dont think it would be as much as the managers.
