No, it's not, for the reasons already mentioned above. Successfully managing Celtic does not rebuild a manager's career down south. Last sentence is spot on though.

It doesn't guarantee you'll walk into a job at Man Utd butI wouldn't completely dismiss it.

Unfortunately it's not up to us to dismiss. The evidence points to success at Celtic (as a manager), being pretty much overlooked down south. Bolton anyone?

    Henrik Larsson (obvious choice ehh?)

No your right (partially) I'm wrong mate. Just had a look - loads of different numbers flying about online.

His deal is 4 years. So half a million a year - we could afford than and a bit more.

Says something about a £750k buy out close though.

Aye I was trying to make the point though that Lennon had one job previous to Bolton which he got through his links to the club (that's how other teams will look at it anyway). So he could have been viewed as a risk by BPL teams potentially? Whereas guys like Rodgers Moyes etc are more established.

Even if you're sacked with a large bit of compo, it is still * and there's no doubt that the confidence of these guys will have been dented. They'll be desperate to get back to winning ways and put themselves in the market - and Celtic can offer that.

As said though, I believe we could afford a big name manager but just could not afford to back him in the transfer market.

You said "I'd like to see D. Moyes on our bench".

With Moyes being a former centre half it was a joke that he'd do a better job than Efe does at present.

Jokes are never funny when you have to explain them, if indeed this was funny outwith my head. :97:

Apparently Brendan Rodgers knocked back Swansea after he got the boot at Liverpool so what makes anyone think he will come to Celtic?

Even from an objective point of view, Swansea or Celtic is an easy choice.

Rodgers said: "It's a tough job managing Celtic although all my family would love to see me there in the future. Martin O'Neill and Lenny would have walked to be in charge there and I'm no different."

Read your signatures (the second one in particular). Answered your own question.

Not everybody has Tommy's outlook, sadly.

Man who would have done anything for us :54:

The world is full of people who talk.....want to play there one day....would love to manage celtic....in the future....blah blah.

Yet most of them never come near the club.

I would be very surprised if a ex liverpool manager came here if he has other choices.

Tommy would have got the job before Lenny, with Lenny as his assistant you would imagine.

    Possibly before Mowbray as well.

I can totally understand why he'd turn down Swansea and come to us instead.

If he went back to Swansea with his tail between his legs it's a bit of a brass neck. Whereas up here he can maybe build his reputation back up and work for a team he supports.

I'm thinking the opposite: It's better for a manager to go to a club where he's already enjoying a lot of respect. It'll give him more peace and quiet to think long-term, as fans won't get on his back if he doesn't get immediate results. I think that's also a big part of the reason why a lot of proven managers end up getting sacked at a new club - they just don't have the authority to get players to implement what they want, or for the fans to be patient. Like Moyes at United, or Rodgers at Liverpool.
