What about Michael O'Neill? We need a manager who can get players to punch above their weight.

Rumour floating about in the daily rags today that he's about to sign a new2 year deal with Northern Ireland.

They have both quotes attributed to them saying they would like to manage us I even believe Rodgers said he would walk here or something like that.

Look dont hate the player hate the game. That last comment you made is despicable and by the way if that was something I really wanted I would just shut the * up and let Deila get on with it wouldnt I? I appreciate people are desperate for me to trip up but dont take it personal I am only this vocal and assertive because our manager is like Forrest Gump, dont mistake my passion to see us do better for anything else and pack it in with the personal attacks.

I'd take him if the other four were not interested, maybe?

You think Efe would keep him out of the team?

Is Michael O'Neill not getting a £2m a year contract with the Counties?

We probably wouldn't compete with that.

You shouldn't be reading that  lol

People are quick to dismiss Moyes and Rodgers but both would have received large pay offs from their clubs, and they would have a great chance to rebuild their reputations here by winning trophies - rather than somewhere like Swansea or Villa, where most games will be a struggle.

The biggest obstacle is our board. I feel they just want a yes man :38:

I'm not sure MON would be able to repeat anything close to what he did before with out proper funds.
I doubt he would come back here anyway.

How could they rebuild there reputations? Lenny got to the last 16, developed mutiple huge transfers for Scotland, won trophies, record goals scored in the Champions League for a Scottish team, record amount of points etc etc.

    He got Bolton.

He wouldn't be able to get close to that team with funds.

    It contained Larsson.

Roughly £20k a week? Surely we could offer that as well as bonuses for European progression? The most important member of staff is the manager, so if we can offer Derek the sick note that then that money should be available for a managers salary!

Highest paid manager ever was Martin O'Neill on £20k if I remember right.

We could offer more, we could offer more money for players and there wages as well. We simply won't though.

Celtic and Bolton aren't bad for your first two manager jobs though, are they?

These guys have more established CVs and personal connections (which should never be overlooked).

Celtic he got because of his own CV and connections, he had outstanding success here and he was viewed good enough to get a club in absolute freefall.

It could be viewed as somewhere where you go when your career is finished.

Problem is loads of managers will just not be interested because we are having to buy players from the £1 shop.

    Henrik Larsson (obvious choice ehh?)

    £38k a week.

Dev's right - £20k a week was our highest with MON. Think Mowbray was on £19k (not much less) according to newspapers.

Won't be dishing that out though considering we went from Lennon on about £14k a week to Ronny who is probably on a third.

The USA and China are these places people will go now for one last pay cheque.

Teams such as ourselves do still have pulling power but unfortunately it's being diluted year on year.

It's dangerous, Ronnie seemed a good choice as its no mean feat to take a club from almost relegation to winning the league but the job appears to be too big for him. This is the problem we'll have going forward - managers in (arguably) more obscure leagues who have done well would seem ideal but may not be able to make the step up. Suppose it's the issue we have with players all the time...but they can be dropped to the bench!
