Could mean a lot of things..

Might have a shortlist drawn up! And a fall back if we can't secure who we want..

Presuming you're the same as 99.9999% on the planet and have said something offensive/crass in your time, do you think those comments are representative of you as a person?

The context/tone of a text is subjective to the reader. Many of the actual 'victims'/agents of 'victims' have came out in support of Malky.

"Kim's agent Lee Yeung-Joong responded via email.
'Surely, we have checked all reports from the UK regarding the manager Mackay and his right hand man Iain Moody related with our player Kim Bo-Kyung.

'Regardless Mackay had mentioned that kind of Racist words by text, we never received any unfair treatments from him and Cardiff City football club at all.

'When Kim firstly joined Cardiff in 2012 summer, just after London Olympic, Mackay had given a lot of considerations for the player and our staffs.

'Kim couldn’t understand English well at that time, and our staff could be always with the player and support him very well, at all home, away games, locker room and all of team meetings, even it was not allowed to anyone. Also, Mackay had spent a lot of times with Kim for his adaptation and match performances always.

'Mackay has very strong character, as everyone knows, and he could say worst words on the pitch, but it was just a WORD, and he always has shown warmest hearts and faith to the player and all of our agency staffs as well."

Desperately want Rodgers and have started to have my doubts as to whether the rumours or true. Then I remember he said this...

“It’s a tough job managing Celtic although all my family would love to see me there in the future. Martin O’Neill and Lenny would have walked to be in charge there and I’m no different.”

... and my faith is restored.

Lead us to the ten Brendan.

    Hail Hail

You forgot to mention that he will hear a much better version of YNWA being sung arround the terraces at Celtic Park.:icon_mrgreen:

Couldn't agree more. Starting to get excited. If Rodgers is back today at the ground he has slept on it, woke up this morning with BOTOB stuck in his head and went to sign on the dotted line

I almost started to get excited about the prospect of it being Rogers and then came to my senses and realised this is Celtic we are talking about here. If DD is thinking he has his man it will be Keane. If it looks like Keane is going to pull out at the last minute it will be Lenny, as they'll figure the fans will accept that. If it's neither of those I'm expecting it to be someone I've never heard of before. Whoever it is I'm preparing myself for dissapointment and praying I'll be proven wrong.

Fair enough, dont want to get into this its off topic, suffice to say that as a teacher(albeit off sick at the minute) I have taught a few kids from chinese origin, eastern european and african descent. If I sent text messages of that sort(which I never have or would) and was caught I would expect that I would never get another job again let alone a prestigious one.

4 or 5 days would be a short time to actually decide on a candidate and then finalise it with them.

I'm taking it as they have offered Rodgers the job and they are trying to get it over the line in the next few days. They'll definitely have a fall back option but I dont think DD would have said that if he wasnt confident of getting his man in.

It wasn't just a one-off "crass" comment though, was it?

From what I've seen he talks about Chinks, fat, money-grabbing Jews, a lack of white faces, a female agents *, homosexuals, and black stereotyping.

To be honest, I'm not sure there's anyone he didn't offend there.

The guys a * cretin, and if we do appoint someone of his ilk we really should be ashamed of ourselves.

    Fair enough..

Hope you're both right.. He may just be trying to take the pressure off as negotiations conclude..

    'Daibhi'

"I think that's nonsense to be fair, the amount that was bandied about at the time was a £7 million payoff when he left, which isn't conditional on him staying out of football."

Firstly, usual 'quote system isn't working for me, so a bit of copy/paste needed.

Daibhi, think you're wrong on this one. It's a standard clause in any Manager's severence pay that they get an agreed exit amount until either their contract with old club was going to expire, in Liverpool's case, May 2108, or he gets another job.

BR was on a basic of £3.25m per year, x2 years outstanding = £6.5m. Let's say he takes position with us at £50K pw = £2.6m per year, x2 years = £5.2m. So BR would lose out on £1.3m over next 2 years, which he would get back in bonuses for getting us into the CL. We, on other hand would be paying around £25k per week more than our "ceiling" or £1.3m per year, plus let's say another £1.3m for an Assistant = £2.6m additional cost. Average cost of ST, let's say £400. So we would need to sell additional 6,500 ST's to cover that extra £2.6m, which I would suggest we would do.

By going for BR we would be showing our intent to get into CL proper that brings in an additional £25m, which would cover new players/salaries etc.

However if we don't qualify....mega debt.

The fact he mentioned negotiations was a posityive for me, I feel like that was almost a slip from him. If we're in negotiations already, then it's likely those negotiations are with Rodgers, based on all we've learned the past day or so.

Of course he could just mean the negotiations will take a few days when they start them. I'm probably reading it how I want to

If its not Rodgers (or Moyes) at this point, I'll be beyond gutted.
