Get the feeling Desmond's holding out for Keane.

Same can be said for most successful sides though. As has been said, Larsson up here. Take his goals away from pretty much each of O'Neil's seasons and what would have happened..

One man can't win trophies on his own though, even Larsson. As incredible as Suarez was that season he was backed up well by Sterling and Sturridge and helped to flourish by the style and tactics Rodgers implemented.

I think the day Lawell said about a 'big name' or whatever, it ruled out Lenny and the likes. From the names banded about, the ones with a reputation big enough to warrant the 'big name' title would be Moyes, Rogers, and maybe Keane only because there is a perception that he is widely popular amongst the celtic fanbase.

Not so sure the board would consider Lambert, Clarke or MacKay as big-names. They know these guys would need to be 'sold' to the fans, whereas the names above kind of sell themselves.

Hopefully its Rogers from the above three.

Don't give a * what EPL clubs/groupies think of us, but it should be seen as a statement of intent to other clubs in Scotland and the media here and in England. If it was the huns linked with someone of Rodgers standing they would have them as winning a treble and doing well in Europe just now.

I hope bringing in Rodgers (big if) it will help us attract players and we can develop and go on to do well in Europe. It would arguably be our biggest ever managerial signing going by reputation and would be massive for us.

Keane is the scary one. DD obviously likes him, keeps offering him jobs. Thank * last time around Lawell obviously gave him the cold shoulder leading to Keano passing.

Given the failure of Ronny's reign, who was a Lawell appointment, it does suggest it's DD's turn to pick. I only hope BR's northern-Irish drawl is like honey in the ear of the big chief,

I'd love Rodgers or Moyes to come in. I do think that would be a big lift for the support as a whole.

But I don't worry about the prospect of Lennon returning. He was a good manager for us before and he'll certainly be a safe pair of hands who knows the terrain at an absolute minimum.

Our "rep" down south will play a part in which players we can tempt up north.

How out of touch can the board be though to appoint Keane or some other shithouse? I mean if the money isn't there or terms really can't be met - fair enough. But there are plenty of youn managers on the continent within our reach - Christ we could probably get Murat Yakin the now, could we not?

Instead they'll appoint some British tadger with zero status.

Lennon wouldn't be the worst appointment in the world but at this stage it would feel like a bit of a let down.

Regardless of the job he has done in the past here, no-one can take that away from him. I just feel now is the time for a real statement to be made.

I have a feeling it's going to be Rodgers or Mackay, which is * mental. If Rodgers has went to the extent of seriously entertaining our offer it must mean that money is on the table.

If he knocks us back surely we could use that same money to tempt someone a bit higher up the foodchain than Malky * Mackay.

Guarantee if it's not something at least a bit creative, ST sales will suffer badly. Honestly reckon the Govan spivs will sell more if that is the case.

Exactly. If Celtic is good enough for Brendan Rogers, then it has to give young, up and coming lads in the championship etc. a bit of thinking to do when its a choice between us and someone like West Brom or Palace.

The last few years of sparce European football and no OF games has had an impact on the attractiveness of our league and our club. Reputation is a massive part of football. Between a big-name manager and hopefully European qualification, it would start to right the ship again. Get us back to where we were a few years ago.

Thing with Rodgers is, he's a Celtic fan. He also isn't sure how his career is going to go from here on in, so it may be the only opportunity for him to manage Celtic. I think he will take it once we dont take the * with the money being offered. With the huns being back and the league potentially being a bit more competitive, and with the prospect of CL football, we're in a better position with regards to attracting someone like Rodgers, than we were three or four years ago.

£10m loss if he gets another job for Rodgers. I highly doubt this
