My preference would be Rodgers but some of the people knocking Moyes here are very selective.

Hi records with Preston and Everton are good - the season before he joined Everton I'm pretty sure they avoided relegation in the last couple of games - the next season, they finished 4th or 5th and he didn't spend a load of money.

The situation at Man Utd was as much Ed Woodward's fault as Moyes. It was always going to be a difficult job to come after Fergie. The one mistake Moyes made (against Fergusons advice) was to get rid of the whole backroom staff and bring in his own people - he should have tried to maintain some element of continuity. There was also a disgraceful situation whereby some of the players who had been there through the Ferguson years (Giggs!) didn't give 100% and tried to undermine him. His league record is no worse (possibly better) than LVG as was his record in Europe. LVG has spent almost 300 million and the Man Utd fans hate him. Many of them are happy not to finish in the top 4 so he will go. All LVG has had (which Moyes didn't) is a bit of luck in the FA Cup.

I really think its hard to judge Moyes on his Man Utd record as he was only given 8 months.

I don't know why he went to Real Sociadad as they were a basket case before he went there. Plenty of UK managers have floundered in Spain - I believe Gary Neville has the potential to be a top manager but he made a mistake taking the Valencia job.

I would love MON to take it but, assuming that doesn't happen - Rodgers, Moyes and Lambert in that order are way ahead of all the other candidates who may realistically take it.

Anyone who would take McInnes or Neilson before Moyes needs to seek treatment urgently.

Owen Coyle seen in a taxi heading towards Parkhead earlier this evening. Robbie Keane with him. Potential #2?

Has to be Rodgers or Moyes for me. A real statement of intent.
