They finished 11th last season and are sitting at 12th just now. For Everton, that's * poor. Under Moyes they were regularly finishing 6th/7th and even 4th one season I'm sure.

He can't set up a team defensively either, which we need in Europe if we want to do anything.

I'd be delighted with Moyes, Rodgers is my top choice but Moyes would make me happy too

moyes gave him something he had never had in a well organised team at the back, slowly but surely he ruined that, stones had offers over 40 million last summer, and just a few weeks ago he was pulled off against liverpool as he was playing so bad, its the same as all the others all have there pros and cons, but i dont like martinez at all.

His teams are defensively a shambles. Wigan were a lower mid-table side under Steve Bruce and Paul Jewell before him.

We could do a lot worse but I don't particularly want him either.

    Moyes then Rodgers for me.

Fair enough, in his short time at Swansea (~2 seasons?) he had them on the ascendancy. Would you agree then that within two seasons at Wigan and Everton he made them worse?

So 66% of his jobs in management he went into a club doing well and made them worse within 2 seasons.

I don't see what he's done to deserve such a high place on folks' lists. I honestly think everyone just wants an EPL manager, as if it's the same as signing an EPL player..

Martinez....No. This season Everton have, what has been widely regarded as their best squad for many, many years and yet they have won just 10 out of 37 league games, which is pathetic for a team of their quality. They have some superb players but defensively have been shocking conceding 55 goals in those 37 matches, which is the 6th worst record in the EPL. Whatever has gone on this season, all is not well at Everton with the likes of Ross Barkley saying he wouldn't resign if Martinez was there next season.

    So, No Roberto, No.

He really hasn't, let's be honest.

Martinez would do well here, domestically - that is a given. We'd probably play well BUT he is stubborn, just like Deila. That would be a concern in Europe. He shouldn't be disregarded because of failures but lets face it - he has been a failure down South, he really has.

    Moyes at Everton:

    2012/13 - 6th
    2011/12 - 7th
    2010/11 - 7th
    2009/10 - 8th
    2008/09 - 5th (FA Cup runner up)
    2007/08 - 5th
    2006/07 - 6th
    2005/06 - 11th
    2004/05 - 4th (CL spot)
    2003/04 - 17th
    2002/03 - 7th

    Martinez at Everton:

    2015/16 - 11th (currently)
    2014/15 - 11th
    2013/14 - 5th

That is pretty un-spectacular. Especially given that he has had funds and was left with a solid defence.

    Wigan (before Martinez)

    2005/06 - 11h
    2006/07 - 17th
    2007/08 - 14th
    2008/09 - 11th

    With Martinez:

    2009/10 - 16th
    2010/11 - 16th
    2011/12 - 15th
    2012/13 - 18th (relegated)

Talking to an Everton fan today in work, Martinez has no plan B and doesn't take the advice of his coaching staff basically it's 'my way or no way'
Did very well in the cups which proves he is good at the one game pressure matches, long term he isn't the answer though we need a good defensive manager for Europe

He also got promoted with Swansea and laid the foundations for what was a very good team under Brendan Rodgers. Only lost 26 out of 126 games for them.

I really wanted Martin O'Neill back but then I thought he wouldn't be here till early July coz of the euro's which wouldn't be a lot of time to get rid off the deadwood & crap & sign new players so now I want Rodgers & hopefully within the next week so he can tell half the players to find a new club before they go on holiday & has time to bring in some players before champions league qualifiers.

Aye the F.A. Cup was great. He's good in the cups - which would be handy for us.

But his two seasons at Swansea pale in comparison to his failures elsewhere.

Again, is failure the right word? He has only been sacked once...

I don't want Martinez, I just don't get the hype about his "attractive and attacking football".
